Publisher's Summary

One of the greatest adventures in the future of humanity will be to construct, work, and live in space-based structures.

In this audiobook, we look at the history of ideas for living in space, proposed space colony designs, and technology. The details of current life-support technology on the International Space Station are reviewed, as well as what technologies will be required for the development of large-scale space colonies and other things in terms of financing and materials availability.

Finally, we conclude with some recommendations to get us ready to build these colonies.

A Great Concept

The optimism and achievability of the essentials of Martin's vision more than makeup for any frustrations he expresses at things that he sees as hindrances.

Five Stars

In particular, his ability to tie in the future of space with the past Enlightenment values and traditions of exploration, expansion, freedom, and democracy. Without these goals, we doom our descendants to a crowded, resource-poor, stagnant, and depleted civilization.

Good One

Although this may be some of Martin's more speculative work, it is in the main backed up by his sound technical foundation in engineering and physics.

Super Book

Martin knows what he is talking about. This book was great! Martin leads us from the early space program, through the technology we could build today -- but haven't -- and into the far, far future.

Well Done

Astonishingly imaginative and technically authoritative, this is the single best and most important book that exists right now on the possibilities for the human future in space.

This is a wonderful, inspiring work that should be read by anyone who's ever dreamed of treading on another planet; and perhaps more so by those who haven't. Enjoy!

Well Organised

The main accomplishment of this book, and the thing that makes this author a hero in my eyes is that he has organized the ingredients for dreaming. Intelligent, sensible, deeply exciting dreaming. Dreams that could come true.

Poor Narrator

Mistakes in pronunciation and background noise, made it hard to focus on content. Should employ a professional narrator or have had a third party review before going live.
