Publisher's Summary

Family man or deranged killer? It’s for fearless PI Jessie Cole to find out. At any cost.

Ever since a car accident left reporter Ben Morrison with amnesia, he’s been trying to rebuild a future as he puts together the pieces of his past. With the help of PI Jessie Cole, he’s getting closer. But few who remember Ben’s troubled childhood want to talk. And those who do—including his father, imprisoned for a shocking crime—are stirring disturbing memories given up for dead.

Then Jessie is sidetracked by a surveillance request from a suspicious husband. An ordinary case, until the cheating wife and lover are found murdered. They bear the trademark wounds of an elusive serial killer who’s now leading Jessie down a chilling path—one that’s about to put a dangerous twist in the search for Ben’s identity.

To discover the truth, Jessie must put more at risk than she ever feared. Because there are more secrets to Ben’s past, than she—or even Ben—ever imagined.

Secrets and Bodies...

This is book 3 in the Jessie Cole series. I would suggest listening to these books in order otherwise you may be lost as far as the connections between the characters.
This book is an excellent addition to the series. There are a few cases Jessie is working on. Two cases collide when the wife of one of her clients and her lover are murdered. They both bare a distinctive mark on their bodies discovered by a new detective. He also uncovers a link to a serial killer who's been killing for many years.
This is a fast paced suspenseful book with multiple secrets and danger around every corner.
If you have kindle unlimited this book is FREE to borrow with the kindle edition.
Kate Rudd does an excellent job narrating.
Very Highly Recommended.

Is Ben a killer? Will Jessie discover the truth?

When we left book 2, crime reporter, Ben Morrison's life seems to be imploding. He's learned that his father is in prison for murdering a young girl, his mother is dead...and she was a she-devil when alive...and his sister is afraid of him. His flashbacks seem to indicate that he may be a psychopath. After he attacked his daughter's soccer coach, his wife asked him to move out until he can get his act together. Ben enlists Jessie's help to discover his past but will he like what Jessie finds? Meanwhile, Jessie's PI business has hit a slump and she is struggling to pay the bills...until Zee encourages her to take an infidelity case. That quickly turns to $h!t when someone murders the wife of Jessie's client and her lover. These murders are soon linked to a few more and the hunt is on for a clever serial killer. Ben is finally vindicated in the eyes of his family when the girl's soccer coach is proven to be a pedophile! But don't get excited yet because the serial killer has his sights set on Ben and Jessie. Will they survive this round with a serial killer? Will Jessie find out the truth of Ben's past? This series is fantastic and I am so excited to have discovered this author and narrator! Can't wait for book 4 to be released in 2019.

Absolutely awesome..

WOW! I love these Jessie Cole books. I got this yesterday when it came out and I highly enjoyed every word of it. And, still, you’re left wondering about who and what Ben really is. The amnesia part of him is very exciting. I like to think he’s not a killer and it will be proved eventually. If you read the other two books you know exactly what I’m talking about. If you haven’t read this series you’re missing out.

This was all about a serial killer that started killing people who had testified against anyone that was sent to prison, and then changed his victims that just fed his need to kill, and then back to his original victims, or their families.

There are some great characters in this series besides the “stars” of the book. Zee is fantastic, she’s a schizophrenic who has Lucy, Marion and Francis in her head BUT this book they were pretty quiet. She works for Jessie’s Private Investigation Company. And I adore Olivia, Jessie’s 15 year old niece, and I like that she’s portrayed as a nice sweet kid and not a complete jerk. And I like Colin, Jessie’s love interest. He’s a detective so they don’t get to see one another too much but he does have a large part of the book, whether it’s in the squad-room or on the phone with Jessie. And Detective Ren, who I was skeptical about in the beginning but he turned out to be pretty cool.

No real romance in this and the F-bomb was used 37 times.

As to the narration: It's Kate Rudd! Need I say more? A fantastic narrator. The voices are great and her emotions are awesome.

Zzzzzz

I tried to slog through this. I don't know who is rating it 4.6, but I could only make it through chapter 12. Not one thing happened that interested me. There was no hook, no character, no story line that appealed to me. Boring.

Loved it? Definitely!!!

Loving this series...however, I'd love to see the Ben-storyline wrapped up one way or another. I'd love if he does ends up truly being a good guy...before and after the amnesia. Ragan could explain away all the "strangling flashbacks" as drug-induced by a crazy villain, or some kind of exotic one-in-a hundred-million brain disease or better still, some other tale that only a magnificent writer like T. R. could weave together. I've been binge-listening and now I move on the Book 4. 👍🏽

Entertaining crime fiction, skillfully narrated by Kate Rudd

Well-paced, serial-murder thriller w complex storyline and fascinating characters

I liked Sacramento PI Jessie Cole and her boyfriend, homicide detective Colin Grayson, and I appreciated their low-key romance, which allowed the main storylines—1) an escalating serial killer with a unique but bloody signature, and 2) amnesiac reporter Ben Morrison’s quest to discover his past—to predominate. The secondary characters associated with Jessie Cole are delightful—including niece Olivia, Zee Gatley, Abigail, and Sean, plus Olivia’s dog named Higgins and Cecil, the one-eyed cat.

Kate Rudd is an excellent narrator whose voice-acting helped make this an engaging audiobook. Brava, Kate Rudd!

Yet another great read by TR. I now know the characters inside even down to Higgins, the dog. She brings the characters to life so well.
