Captivating!

I listened to the whole book in one evening. I was not expecting to do that. This is not a genre that I usually purchase.
But it was recommended and I did enjoy it. Thank you!

A fun story

This book was a fun and short read. If you’re interested in a range of different characters, this book will definitely peak your interest!

An exciting return to swords & mysterious monsters

Familiar flavors of sword & sorcery and otherworldly monsters, but also a unique blend of historical settings and realistic characters.
And the ending was like an homage to Stoker's Dracula. Yet in a way I didn't see coming.
I enjoyed going on the perilous journey with these characters in an exotic land.
With a narrating style that features clever, descriptive, colorful wording rather than profane, cheap shocks.
Highly recommended for fans of this genre looking for an escape about the same length as a movie.

OMG I love it!

This audiobook is the reason why Audible exists! If I had bought the paperback version, I would have missed half of the experience. From the very first moment I clicked play, it made me feel like a child again. The cover reminded me of those point-and-click adventures from the 90s, and the music perfectly matches that vibe. The characters are memorable, Navarro, Father Dominguez, Princess Tayanna, they all feel like the cast of a computer adventure I used to love. And the inclusion of the Chupacabra is amazing for us Latin Americans!

The narration is wonderful, clear even for non-native English speakers, well-acted, and with such a soothing sound quality that I could listen to it all day. I played it in one sitting while doing other things, and I think it’s perfect for relaxing or even falling asleep.

As Wild as this Tale Sounds, it Feels Real!

I only wish the author had told a longer story. The atmosphere was rich, the setting was almost believable though surely fantasy, and the voice and the music added to the mood perfectly.
Five stars for everything but the story, only because I wished it would have been more like a series and less like a movie.
Sequel?
