Story
Ten years has passed since an infectious virus nearly consumed all of mankind. Millions died, millions more became infected, changed, and turned into mindless, feral hunters bent on the consumption of living flesh. Archer was a solitary man, scavenging what he could to survive off the ruins of the world that no longer existed. A world gone mad, where those who still lived were just as great of threat as those who were infected.

I have watched her from afar since the day she was born. I knew from the moment my eyes spied her that she was the one - the one I needed, the one I have searched for so very long. My careful planning and sacrifices would all be worth it when she was finally mine. She will not disappoint me like the others, for she is precious.

Stealing a shard of a dead god’s blood should have been enough adventure for a lifetime. For William Reis, it was just the beginning. William has a single goal in his life, to succeed where generations of others have failed, and gain admittance to the Smithing Guild of Palnor. Men and women from the Reach have tried for years, but all have failed. They have failed for a single reason, a commandment from the Church of Amder. No one from the Reach can ever gain entrance to the Guild. A decree that remains unknown all but the Masters of the Guild, and even they don't know why.

The middle years of Jamus and Sophie
This book was released a while after the first two, however if you start the series now, may I suggest you read it as book 2. It fills in the gap of time between the first two books. I was so happy to see just what Jamus and Sophie did in that time. How she grew to become the unstoppable force she was in book 2. They didn't have it easy. Everyone wanted them as there was a big bounty on the both of them by the king. They could literally trust no one. They couldn't settle anywhere that was populated. Getting supplies was a dangerous risk every single time. Jamus felt so much sadness and guilt over the life Sophie was forced to endure. He wanted more for her, he had foolishly thought that once he saved her, they could start over. Time and time again, they got into bad situations where more blood and violence was the result. He hated her to witness it, but it was the reality of their lives. He taught her to hunt, to fight with her blades and she took to the lessons until she was great at it all. Soon she was even saving him from peril. It was gripping, and tragic, yet inspiring to see them fight and overcome so much. They became heros of sorts to the villagers, farmers and people of the kings land, as they stood and fought for their freedom. Some people wanted to take a stand and enlisted their help, but as expected things didn't go well. As people do, they turned on them putting them in extreme danger. This is where you see Sophie first shine. She saves her dad and they once again come out on top. I enjoyed every minute of this book, highly recommend this series. I listened to the audio of the book and as before, the narrator did a fantastic job.

An exciting read!
Demon of Ever-Dale is the bridge between book one and two that I didn’t know I needed until it was here.
Focusing on the period of time between the first two books, we get to see what happened to Jamus and Sofia as they run from the king in their bid for freedom.
Fuller has once again woven an incredible story that instantly captivated my attention. We got to watch Sofia grow and struggle to accept the man her father has become, all while dealing with the isolation of being constantly hunted and on the run.
Even knowing how things would end, I found myself on the edge of my seat constantly. Filled with twists and turns, excitement and adventure, this book is a perfect piece to complete this amazing trilogy!
