Publisher's summary

Good things come in extra-large, smoking hot packages. Things like pizza.

The very pizzas that I deliver for my dad's restaurant, Peretti's Pizza. It's a temporary job, something to pay the bills until I graduate from school, but it does the trick. In fact, it's working quite well - until Ryan Pierce of the Minnesota Stars decides to order a pizza from me, and life as I know it turns upside down.

You see, Ryan Pierce doesn't just open his front door. He opens it buck naked. And suddenly, I'm not the one boasting the biggest, hottest package in the room. However, it's what happens next that gives me butterflies whenever my phone beeps. Ryan starts to call, and then text, and then 15 pizza deliveries and one fantastic night later, we're friends with benefits.

So when he asks me to be his fake girlfriend at his brother's wedding, I'm happy to help. But the longer we pretend, the more I worry that this is one package I might not be able to handle.

Pretty Good...

This book was missing something. I think it was the connection between Andy and Ryan. It didn't feel steamy...I felt like I was being told how to feel instead of actually feeling it. Parts were skipped, like Andi's big meeting with an agent. We heard her call for a meeting then next thing you know she was walking out the meeting. LITERALLY months pass between scenes. I'm not a fan of this style. The whole big felt forced, skipped around and lacking that special something.

However! It really started getting good near the end. I really loved the ending and all the details, a glimpse into the future, the way it all turned out. If the entire book was like that it'd be a 5 star. The ending was really great. The ending took this from 3 stars to 4 for me.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the male narrator. It didn't fit my opinion of the character. He sounded much much older. His reading was fine though and the female narrator was good.

Disconnected

The story was just okay, time lapse in some instances was confusing. Some “meetings” get skimmed over. At one point Andie is wearing a polo, then a tank top, and back to a polo again.

The performance was fine, just didn’t love the pauses after each sentence. Got used to it after a while but it was weird. At first thought the voice was AI and not a real person. Not the best book but I did finish it.

Authors storyline doesn’t fit very well with reality.

Thank goodness authors can create their own realities and this book was free. It’s a Weak storyline. The author makes it out as if Jocelyn is the only sports agent out there. If Ryan well enough known someone in LA that doesn’t know hockey or the basics about hockey even the basic terminology according to the story knows about him while he’s playing in Missouri (he’s famous) 🤷‍♀️ if we are left to believe all this than it’s not unrealistic to recognize that in reality he could easily find another sports agent. 🤦🏽‍♀️

One for my re-listen list

I loved both Andi and Ryan. I really appreciated that there wasn't a whole lot of "misunderstanding leads to major angst" that so many romance books seem to think is a requirement. There was of course a bit of drama, but nothing over the top and it was more due to wanting the best for each other.
I thought the narrators were actually pretty good (I'm not sure what other people had issues with?) Both narrators had voices that were neither over the top or grating in any way. Neither of them over-acted in any way, which I greatly appreciate.
Overall this is a sweet story that I will definitely listen to again in the future when I just need a nice, low drama, feel good kind of story.

Fun book, great characters

This was my first book from Lily Kate and I really liked it. There are so many funny parts and what an adorable premise. (I want a smiley pizza). Both Ryan and Andi are great characters- they start as friends (although with a healthy dose of attraction) and as their friendship builds, so does love. Both are aiming for chances in their career but they realize that they need to prioritize love. But can they and still get everything they want? It's a great book that isn't too angsty. I have to say, I've looked at the next book in the series and I'm hoping that Lily Kate has the ability to make a miracle happen with that couple :o) (but i'll definitely be reading it!)

I listened to the audiobook for the majority of this book. The narrators, Kasha and Iggy are pretty good. They were good with the voices, pacing was good and the narration was enjoyable.
