Unbelievable

The story was okay until the last half where everything became more and more absurd. The narrator has a nice voice but he failed to add enough emotion or discernment between the characters to keep my attention.

Best narrator and author duo

I am sad, actually heartbroken to hear of Scott Pratts death. Mr. Pratt leaped to the top of my favorite author list after reading book 1- he had me at Joe Dillard. Mr. Campbell's narration and Pratt's characters/story line go together like "peas and carrots". I will look forward to new books authored by Kelly Hodge with hopes that his characters and writing style will be similar to Scott Pratt. Thanks for the great reading Mr. Pratt you will be missed.

Great Road Trip Book

The mix of sports and intrigue was ideal to keep our entire family engaged for the entire book.

Excellent Story & Performance!!!

I am deeply saddened that this is Scott Pratt’s last book. I lived for his new books to be released. Also Tm Campbell is an outstanding performer, I love the way he brings life to every character.

Very Enjoyable

I so miss Scott Pratt and his legacy of great works. Hopefully Kelly Hodge will pick up the baton and continue on with the Billy Beckett series. Mr. Pratt would approve!

Nice Sports Context but adventure limited

I found the college football backdrop good but quite a few people died without obvious reason. Finish is not very exciting or intriguing.

Unexpected ending!

Lots of twists and turns in this book that I would have listened in one setting, if I didn’t have to work!

It took me a bit to get into the story, but then I liked it.

I might try the second in the series.

Good narration.

3.5 Stars

I thought the plot was almost 4 stars; it held my interest enough to finish it. The writing itself was 3.5 stars as was the narration. I rounded up to 4 stars overall because much of the setting stirred up fond memories. And I love SEC football. If you are not familiar with East Tennessee and not a fan of football, this book may not be for you.

I also thought that the timeline throughout the book was peculiar; sometimes a lot had happened and it was only the next day then suddenly weeks had gone by without any story or action. Not a huge deal; just a little distracting. I couldn't connect with protagonist to care that much what happened to him. And some of the minor characters were not believable. Yet overall I'm glad I read it. Not sure, though, that I'll read the other books in this series.

Ok, but just ok

Hard to say why I didn’t like this better. The writing is simple at times and some aspects of the plot are just started instead of worked through, especially at the end. Decent story. As likable as the main character is I don’t think I will continue.
