Publisher's Summary

The 10th Joe Ledger audiobook in Jonathan Maberry's New York Times best-selling series.

Terrorists-for-hire have created a weapon that can induce earthquakes and cause dormant volcanoes to erupt. One terrifying side effect of the weapon is that prior to the devastation, the vibrations drive ordinary people to suicide and violence. A wave of madness begins sweeping the country beginning with a mass shooting in Congress.

Joe Ledger and his team go on a wild hunt to stop the terrorists and uncover the global superpower secretly funding them. At every step, the stakes increase as it becomes clear the endgame of this campaign of terror is igniting the Yellowstone caldera, the supervolcano that could destroy America.

author's politics shows

Jonathan apparently hates our current president. unfortunately it seeps through into this book, poisoning the storyline. makes one wonder, how well does he understand his audience? how one can write about DMS and express disdain even to 2nd amendment? Jonathan, please turn off MSNBC for the next book effort.

Stay out of politics

Up till now the politicians have been generic but he clearly goes after the current administration, not a huge fan myself but enough is enough already. Not a bad book but will avail myself of Audibles awesome return policy. Keep it non party specific or wrap the series up.

Could do without the lecture

Could do without the lecture on the politics. Its just sooooo tiresome, predictable and about ruins end of the story. I hope he's gotten it out of his system.

overbearing and too political.

sadly i couldn't bring myself to finish this one. which is disappointing considering how far into thw series it is. the authors obvious disdain for the current political climate is shoved down the readers throat in a way that just turns you off.

Joe was already becoming a pretentious prick and by this book you just keep hoping someone will kick his ass and teach him a lesson in humility.

Starts great...but

What starts as a traditional story about “Ma Ledger’s favorite son” with all the fun-loving jokes and action; takes a turn about halfway through. The downward spiral starts with a small sprinkling of current-events political commentary and drops completely into characters making stump speeches by the end.

Must even fiction be Anti-Trump?

I find it intriguing that even successful authors of wildly successful, fun spirited book series find it necessary to alienate over 50% of their readers with Anti-Trump anything. So, if you want to add such to your dose of daily rage, go for it. Ray Porter does his usual, funny job of narrating. He truly embodies Joe Ledger. I just can't stomach more politics of any ilk. Up to you. I tried to ignore it, but it did get extreme. Wonder if this review will be censored … will I? Strange times.

Avoid if you're sick of political rhetoric

I have purchased and read or listened to every Joe Ledger book; until now. I will never purchase another. I am extremely dissapointed that Mayberry decided to put obvious political bias into this book. I guess the left will never get the idea at least half of their paying audience does not agree with thier politics and should keep it to themselves. Shame on you Mr. Mayberry and I hope you feel it in your sales.

Deep Silence Shines Loudly!

As with every other Jonathan Maberry/Ray Porter project, I am always mesmerized by the storyline and excellent narration.

Due to circumstances, Joe's relationship with Aunt Sally went through quite a metamorphosis in this book, and hearing this superbly written, complex and timely process unfold was exceptionally compelling.

Ghost, as always, never ceases to amaze, and be the most fantabulous companion to Joe. Man's best friend at his finest. . . #titanium teeth!

Church, Top, Bunny and Junie are back in full force, and continue to "Rock the Casbah!" Love them!

Sending much gratitude to Mr. Maberry and Mr. Porter for yet another opportunity to relish in a fresh episode of this epic, and unparalleled series!

May the Ledger series continue for a looong time!

very disappointed

As usual Porter does a wonderful job. Very disappointing that the author decided to try and inject his hatred for our president into the story. Not just a little bit either. Couldn’t even finish the story and the Joe Ledger series has been a favorite of mine for years.

He literally cannot write these fast enough

My favourite book series bar none and this one certainly didn't disappoint.

He moves the franchise on nicely, more so than any previous novel and it has a very pleasing conclusion.

You also get more character back story than usual, which opens many new doors.

Ray Porter simply Is Joe Ledger as always, so much so that I have banned myself from ever seeing a likeness of him.

Truly brilliantly entertaining novel

Long live the DMS

Continuing the story of the god machines, the latest adventure for Joe and the team is a nitrous-fuelled blockbuster movie that doesn't let up. An excellent series with great characters, political machinations, 7 foot lizards and more action than you can shake a stick at.

Joe and the other agent s of the DMS face off against another world ending threat, this time hampered by a new presidential administration.
