Over the top

What would have made Deep, Dark better?

A better more original storyline. The characters were one dimensional and the story was very trite.

What could Jonathan Maberry have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Come up with a more original plot.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Ray Porter is always great but this trite story did not do him justice.

What character would you cut from Deep, Dark?

all were uninteresting.

Engaging!

If you could sum up Deep, Dark in three words, what would they be?

Engaging, fast-paced, fantastical.

If you’ve listened to books by Jonathan Maberry before, how does this one compare?

I'm not a science fiction fan, but Mr. Maberry hooked me in on this story.

Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed the suspenseful set-up - you don't know what they're going to find when they are descending an elevator deep into the earth - but you know it's terrifying.

a great Ledger short

A bit with Joe, Bunny, and Top trying to make the right call as to who the real terrorists are in this little situation; the soldiers who had been lied to or the scientists who did the deed. I think Joe made the right call.

best short story ever!

Reads like a movie, and if it was a movie, it would be one of the best ever. Exciting, fast moving, scary, and yet with a core of humanity and, yes, hope.

Can never get enough

It doesn’t matter that I’m on a lovely tropical island at home listening to this story- Jonathan’s writing transports me every time to whatever frightful realistic story he has imagined for Joe Ledger and his group. Love it!
