Decolonial Healing (part 1) / The Seal Hunter and the Selkie

  • Summary

  • In part one of this two-part discussion, Rue, Kenzie, and Mica talk about how they, as queer settlers, each engage in the work of decolonial healing. They begin by telling the story of the Seal Hunter and the Selkie, a traditional Scottish tale of repairing relations between nations when one nation has violently harmed the other. Afterward, they discuss settler colonialism, decolonization, decolonial practices, healing from whiteness and white supremacy, white guilt and shame, reclaiming pre-colonial European spiritualities and practices, animism, solidarity and liberation, sovereignty, and more.
