Too focused on Canadian perspective

I had high hopes for this since I enjoyed watching Gail on her 'til debt do us part' series. However I can't recommend this book. Too much of it is either not applicable or not address if you live in the United States.

For example:
1. When talking about credit ratings the book discusses the system used in Canada.
2. Considerations for how to address Health Care Costs (Premiums, HSAs, copays, RX, etc.) are not even addressed (since Canada has universal healthcare).
3. When discussing what type of savings plan to use for emergency fund, Gail discusses a savings plan that is not even available in United States.
4. Last, when discussing savings for college products such as educational savings accounts and 529 plans were not even discussed (since Canada has something different).

Some of the concepts are still applicable, but there there are better choices if you live in the United States.

Great book to focus on your finance

I watched Gail on 'Til Debt Do Us Part' for years and loved her no nonsense approach to finance.
Luckily, I'm not in debt but I'm at a phase in my life where my finances are a priority. This book helps keep me on track.
