Publisher's summary

"Kill. Kill them all." It's the first four words Lars usually wakes up to every morning as the voice in his head nags him, telling him she's just giving him a "quest" that will help him "level".

But even if he wanted to do it, he can't. They're cultivators; beings with ancestral bloodlines that have powers he could only dream of and that may as well be gods while he is stuck as a puny human. Even if he could kill them, the people who bullied him, beat him, treated him like a punch-bag pariah for being the "tailless worthless human" that he was to them, he wouldn't. It just wasn't in Lars's nature.

That is, until a vicious group of murderous psychopaths called a "sect" descend on his village. The vicious group brutally kills everyone he's known his entire life, taking a select few with them as slaves. Lars must now trust he isn't going insane and find a way to complete the voice's quests and level up, so that he can save his mother from her cruel and heartless captors.

Death's Favorite Warlock is a cultivation themed LitRPG adventure series.

Very enjoyable

Solid writing, solid world building, solid characters, good plot lines. Ophelia. Don't need to say more, just Ophelia. Campbell does himself proud with another great entry into his ledger of books narrated. Looking forward to book two!

Great book if ...

you are interested in an MC that's always stunned, always thinking 40 minute monologues during fights

Not Good but not Bad.

It is hard to describe what I feel about this book. There are sooooooo many issues mainly with the MC then with anything else. The best way I can describe him is he does not belong in this story at all. The way he acts to the “supposed” morals he has just does not fit with him or the story. I could understand it if the MC was an isekai protagonists. But there is no isekai or portal in this fantasy. Narrator was very good. Had a good range of voices. Glad we got away from soundbooth theatre.

Loved It

Fun interplay with a voice in his head, a twist on the cultivation genre, and an engaging and descriptive world kept me listening as much as possible. Loved it, can't wait for the next!

Amazing new Cultivation Novel!

This book was an amazing blend of comedy and darkness. With the main character being considered Death's Favorite Warlock you have to expect something dark. Following such a character's journey can be interesting and I am absolutely loving this character development! Is this character going to stick to his morals or go full murder hobo? I felt like the narrator did a fantastic job capturing the feelings and excitement of the characters. I really enjoyed the book! I can't wait to hear the next one!

read the d@m# book

it's so good, the MC is relatable and likeable who has a great story arch and character build, the power system is interesting and has potential as does the world building. all in all this series has the potential to rise to the top of the Litrpg stories right along with dungeon born and the cradle series.

Confusing MC

So personally I dislike Death the female voice in his head, at least I think its female. The whole hating cultivators for being immortal doesnt really vibe with me and make me want to side with her. More side with the cultivators and defying the heavens.

Then the MC goes on about how bloodline doesnt matter and him being tail less is stupid to judge by as if everyone is just racist..EXCEPT it DOES matter. Without the contract to the system to level up hed not be able to cultivate. Then cultivating is literally in this world purifying ones bloodline to make it more pure to advance. The best techniques are ones that make the bloodline better. Its not a opinion in this world but a fact, yet the MC trys to convince people bloodlines don't matter when they clearly do. So it comes off as stupid. Hes the exception that wont work for anyone else so it's not like hes proposing an alternative.
