Publisher's Summary

As the food and cocktails columnist for the Island Times, Hayley Powell attends a lot of events - but this one will be murder.

On the eve of her high school reunion, Hayley dreads seeing the trio of mean girls who used to torment her: Sabrina Merryweather, Nykki Temple, and former prom queen Ivy Foster. These days Ivy wears a different crown as the cupcake queen - and flaunting her success is just the icing on the cake.

But maybe the prom queen should have been voted "most likely to die". At the reunion, Ivy is found murdered - cupcakes scattered around her. Is a killer out to teach the mean girls a lesson? As Hayley tries to get the scoop, she'll have to be careful...or someone may be writing this columnist's obituary next.

Includes seven delectable recipes from Hayley's kitchen!

Has interruptions

interesting story interrupted by recipes that completely take away from what is happening in it

Good book

The story was a light mystery. For me it was a great change from all the heavy sex & cursing that is in so many of the mystery /thrillers. But if you are looking for more complex this isn't for you. I loved it . It did start a little slow & the receipts intermixed are a little distracting but I got use to them.

High school reunion murder

This installment of the series had a really interesting plot twist which I didn't see coming. I did sort of suspect who the killer might be, but I definitely didn't know why. It's nice to be surprised in a cozy & the plot moves along at a good pace.
There wasn't nearly enough Liddy & Mona though, and same with Randy. Aaron was present even less. It was a strange dynamic as the attention shifted more to some of the other side players with the "popular girl" clique. Not bad, but if you follow this series you'll notice that change.
Hailey was also a little more immature & irresponsible than usual...She acts like a 5 year old with Bruce & The laughing fit during a funeral was irritating.
Overall I wish the core cast was more present to make Hailey more likable. But it's still a great plot & wonderful narration as usual!

Still good but ...

It's time for more character development. Hailey is sounding more frenetic than capable in this one and I'd really like to begin to hear more from Aaron.. He's more of a marshmallow pussy cat than a man with any depth or even a true companion. It's like he's on the periphery of her life. I missed the usual banter about and from Mona on life, her family though the lesbian comment is pretty funny, and her job.

Fun mystery with recipes

I have really enjoyed all of the books in this series. Fun, cozy mysteries that usually keep me guessing, with a few tasty food & cocktail recipes interspersed. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
