Publisher's Summary

Location scout and Jane Austen aficionado Kate Sharp is thrilled when the company she works for lands the job of finding locations for a new film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, but then her boss, Kevin, fails to return from a scouting trip to England. Kate travels to England to salvage Kevin's and the company's reputation before word gets out that he is missing.

Things go from bad to worse when Kate arrives in Nether Woodsmoor, a quaint village of golden stone cottages and rolling green hills, only to find no trace of Kevin except his abandoned luggage. Even the rumpled, easygoing local scout they consulted, Alex, doesn't know where Kevin might be.

Increasingly worried about Kevin and with an antsy director waiting for updates about the preproduction details, Kate embarks on a search that includes a pub-crawl and cozy cottages as well as stately country manors. But Kevin remains missing, and she begins to suspect that the picturesque village and beautiful countryside may not be as idyllic as they seem.

An Amazing Series

When I saw this title I will be honest it was the dog on the cover that made me download it as well as the association with P and P. But I was really blown away by the story and thrilled to discover that it wasn't a stand alone book but a series. The characters of Kate and Alex really click and the details of the story and descriptions of the country side and homes really make you feel like you're there. I highly recommend it. I also really enjoyed the narrator. Sometimes narrations can be like molasses but Sarah Mollo-Christensen makes listening a pleasure.

Light enjoyable read

Usually require a more complex plot but this kept me listening. Who can find fault when Jane Austin is part of the mix. Besides, I need a break from Lee Childs, etc.

Cozy mystery

The book was in the classic detective category, but it's much more if a cozy mystery. For a cozy mystery I'd rate it a 3 star (good), but it's not that I was looking for.

Boring

With references to Pride and Prej you'd think there would be some charm and romance ... Nope. With references to murder, youd expect some suspense and drama ... Nope. Such a dull story read by a dull narrator. The "love story" was stupid and there was no character that I cared anything about. I was glad when the book was over.

why spend first chapter being trite

note to author: don't make us sit through a chapter of "woe is me I'm not married" before the story gets started!

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

A BEAUTIFUL ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE WITH AN AMERICAN PERSPECTIVE/ACCENT. DON'T GET ME WRONG. I LOVE MY BRITISH MYSTERIES, BUT SOMETIMES I FIND MYSELF STRUGGLING TO TRANSLATE BRITISH NAMES FOR THINGS. THIS WAY, THE AMERICAN CHARACTERS DO THAT FOR ME. WIN/WIN. LOVE KATE AND ALEX, AS WELL AS BEATRICE. THIS READER IS GREAT, AS WELL. I AM ABOUT TO BEGIN BOOK 2!

Paper thin and ignorant

I get the impression that Ms Rosett has never been to England, just watched mystery series. The characters are obvious and trite as is the plot

A little crime, a little romance

Minimal violence (although there’s a murder), platonic romantic tension, some classic English characters and countryside and culture. Not great, but easy and pleasing.

A great new author

Really glad to have found this “new to me” author. An excellent story ,well read, in the best tradition of cozy murders.
