Publisher's summary

We only see the things on the surface….

When Pirate Cove's favorite—and only—mystery bookshop owner and sometimes-amateur sleuth Ellery Page discovers a vintage diving collection bag full of antique gold coins tucked away for safe keeping in the stockroom of the Crow’s Nest, it sets off a series of increasingly dangerous events, culminating in murder.

Great to be back in Pirates Cove

I love this series, and I am absolutely delighted by the end of this book. Unfortunately, I feel like I've missed out on something because the series skipped book 6 and went straight to 7. I realize long series sometimes skip a book or two, but this series isn't very long. Please stop skipping the audible version of the series. Lastly, Matt Haynes brings Pirates Cove to life and is the reason I have loved this series from the beginning.

Another enjoyable entry

This was an enjoyable book which continues following the life of entertaining characters. The relationships between deceased relatives was tough to follow at times. Perhaps it would be easier to follow in print. Looking forward to the next mystery for Ellery, Jack, Watson, & The Silver Sleuths.

Love this series!

I keep thinking that this series can’t get better and then it does. I think I’ve read or listened to all of Josh’s books.

Always fun

I always enjoy the books of this series. The writing and performance are both entertaining and comfortable, and the mysteries are logically orchestrated. I look forward to many more adventures with these wonderful characters.

Josh Lanyon and Matt Haynes are great!!!

They leave you wanting more. The will he, won’t he that follows throughout the story is perfectly interpreted by Matt Haynes. I hope more stories are planned because I need a wedding, dammit! Love these characters. Love the way Matt Haynes brings them to life. 5 stars all the way for me!

Good narration. Good story.

Another twisty mystery, and a nicely performed narration.

Ellery's personal connections to Pirate's Cove continues to deepen. I am curious about what will be unveiled as Ellery keeps digging into mysteries that have gone unsolved on the island. Looking forward to seeing how many more times Jack has to drag Ellery out of trouble before all the deep dark secrets of Pirate's Cove have been uncovered.

Sorry to finish

Can’t wait for the next episode. Will they marry, will movies be in the future?

Well!

Seven books in and this series has little little to no momentum for me. In fact, this installment might be one of my favorite within it. Cant wait to read the next one!

Tangled History, Betrayal, Love

This was such a good installment in the Secrets and Scrabble series! I’m shocked that I’ve enjoyed all 7 books over the last few days. And looked sadly at the 8th book that hasn’t been released in audio format yet. This series is addictive! Josh Lanyon has a way of setting the scene with phrases like ‘the bell over the door tinkled merrily’ or the ‘bell sounded subdued’. It’s subtle but effective and so well done. My paraphrasing doesn’t sound as good as it was in the books because there’s no context. That little entry bell has personality though, and the way it rings changes with the action. Ellery finds out more about his great great aunt Eudora, the entangled relationships between the island founders, as well as discovering a rare and valuable treasure in an old diving collection bag. Cozy mystery buffs will be sooo satisfied with Josh Lanyon’s tale!
