Publisher's summary

A steamy psychological thriller.

When U.S. Marshall Kate Swift enters a trauma-recovery workshop, she never expects to be caught up in a fiery romance and a violent crime wave.

WARNING: Death is Potential features adult situations and has sexual content.

As Kate and Tom Scott grow close, their bond is tested by series of murders. After fire shuts down access to Big Sur, and the workshop, Kate takes control of the police investigation. To save Tom's life, Kate must find the killer.

Perfect for mystery and romance fans, Death is Potential is a nuanced combination of "The Guest List" by Lucy Foley and "Nine Perfect Strangers" by Liane Moriarty, with a touch of the humor of "Squeeze Me" by Carl Hiaasen.

Critic reviews

"We recommend it strongly. Death is Potential is a well written and enthralling Mystery Romance and Psychological Thriller. The author has crafted realistic and like able characters which will draw you into the excellent plot. Recommended for readers who like Mystery, Thriller, or Romance novels. It is incredibly difficult to write a Mystery Romance where the romance adds to the Suspense and Mystery, instead of detracting from it. For every 100 authors who try to combine Romance with Mystery, only a handful succeed. Bob Burnett succeeds splendidly." (Books Butterfly Review)

Mysterious, Romantic, and Steamy

Kate Swift is a U.S. Marshall entering a trauma-recovery workshop. Not only does she find herself knee-deep in a murder investigation, but life throws her another curve ball – a hot steamy romance and potential relationship! But to enjoy her newfound love and learn to trust again, Kate must find the killer before he strikes again.

The author, Bob Burnett, creates a hot steamy romance tinged with murder and mystery. Each character is fairly well-developed and captivating. The plotline and twists are creative, establishing a solid foundation. The challenges showcase Kate’s strength, and leadership skills and authenticate her character. I found the storyline itself engaging and interesting, and I enjoyed learning about the secondary characters which was important to build the character relationships with one another and the listener.

The narrator, Rebecca Castelli did a good job of telling the story. The story was told mainly from the male’s point of view and the lack of “designated voices” for the different characters made it difficult for me to keep the story straight. Castelli did insert energy and appropriate pauses to interject the appropriate level of mystery and action. I found her voice pleasant to hear.

Overall, this is an interesting and well-written book that will leave whodunit enthusiasts wanting more Kate and Tom!
