Jessica of Holzbrennen Studio is an artist who works with what she dubs “trashion”: clothing made from up-cycled discarded materials. Her works are both intricate pieces of fashion and an excellent way to repurpose refuse. We here at DIE tend toward the macabre (who would’ve thought) and thus have a fascination with all things creepy crawly, such as this week’s focus, cryptids! These shadowy creatures defy explanation, inspire horrific tales, and highlight the wonders of a universe filled to the brim with as-yet unexplained phenomena. Real or not, they are a gateway into how we interact with the world and, naturally, our concepts of death and the great beyond. Join us as we dig into some of the more deadly and deathly of these eldritch beings, including acid-spitting desert worms; a voracious legend of spiritual folklore; a predator with a sweet tooth for farm animals; and of course, the Monster of the Moment, the mysterious (and possessor of copious cake) Mothman!
