Publisher's summary

Twenty-year-old Clementine Avery doesn't mind being called bitchy and closed off. It's safe. And after being burned by her high school sweetheart and stalked by a professor her freshman year of college, safe sounds pretty damn good.

Her number-one rule for survival? No dating. That is until she accidentally signs up for a romance writing class and needs material for her latest assignment. Sexy RA Gavin Murphy is more than happy to play the part of book boyfriend to help Clem find some inspiration, even if that means making out...in the name of research, of course.

As Gavin and Clem grow closer, they get entangled in the mystery surrounding a missing Boston University student, and Clem unwittingly becomes a possible target. Gavin tries to show Clem she can handle falling in love again, but she knows she has to be careful because her heart's at stake...and maybe even her life.

Contains mature themes.

i am not usually a romance reader...

usually find romance novels extremely boring and predictable. but this book has more then the meet, have sex, fall in love, stars, rainbows, and the knight in shining armour. there is mystery, a little suspense, actually make you smile or laugh, anger, and awe moments. i genuinely liked Clem and understood more then i would have liked the feelings she had when it came to trusting. Gavin is a likeable guy, he makes dumb decisions (which makes you like him more) but he is not the main character he is a wonderful bonuse. Its all about Clem and her finding her way.

I love Lex Martin but...

I’m a huge fan of Lex Martin and have loved every book of hers I’ve read up to this point. This one just didn’t do it for me. There were parts of the story I really enjoyed but I had a hard time connecting to the main female character. I also found myself feeling stressed during a lot of this read. The steamy, sexy scenes were basically non-existent...and the ending fell flat in my opinion. Narration was good but I was truly disappointed that Nelson Hobbs only narrated the last chapter. I wanted to love this one so much...

Excellent!

This could easily be a movie for the sheer fact that it has all the feels and the sex wasn't over the top but believable. 😁❤❤❤❤

Dearest Clem

I loved this story. It’s real, it’s raw, it dives into a lot of heart ache with the sweet loving ending to fix it. I enjoyed this a ton. Gavin was absolutely swoon worthy.

5+Stars

I really enjoyed this book. The only thing that could have made the book better is if we had more of Gavin's POV. All the bits and pieces came together beautifully the maintained a dull angst throughout making it hard to stop listening. Clementine was everything I wanted in a character emotionally real in many ways. Gavin well he is the perfect book boyfriend. What I like best about their story was I felt like we really got to see the relationship being build. It wasn't the instalove you get were the guy sees what he wants and sexes her into submission. You get to know the couple and why they work. The book has a borderline YA feel to it's worth the listen for sure.

Sweet Heroine and Darling Hero

Clementine certainly is brave and sweet and deep down inside, fearless. She recovers from a stalker, owns the work she contributed to her novel, and finds love at the same time. Gavin is strong enough to see to it that Clementine is loved and that she knows love herself. There are funny roommates and a ruthless redhead, making this story enjoyable and heartwarming. Because Clem and Gavin have taken strides to be stronger together and separately, I gave this book a five star rating.
One thing I would change: sometimes it was hard to tell if the narrator was quoting Clem or speaking Clem’s thoughts, but overall the performance was still outstanding.

Don't waste your money

Clementine is the most neurotic heroine ever!
All the drama she creates for herself makes this book drrrraaagggg out. I'm glad I used my free credit, because paying for this book would make me cry. Thank goodness for the other characters otherwise I would have stopped listening the first chapter. I like many of Lex Martin's books, but this one was a snooze for me.

I love this book.

The story about the romance of two young writers one is a journalist and one writes books, both in. College, both outstanding in their field one. Has a supportive family, one is rich but family support is no way close to supportive.a bad breakup,a stalker,a girl missing and loads of supportive friends make up the romantic story. Its a wonderful way to spend your reading time

Great story

Enjoyed listening to this. It was a story of two people in college. Gavin was the sweetest guy ever. I am not a hugh fan of the younger age but liked this one.
