Help for Friends and Family Members Dealing with Someone Who Is Depressed

Everything you need for dealing with a friend, spouse, child, boyfriend, girlfriend, or family member who suffers from depression or anxiety is in this book. This is not one of those short books that lacks substance. No! It is filled with proven methods for coping with someone who is depressed.

From the author, Amber Rain, on coping with a depressed person:

All of us are hit with the blues now and then, and that's not unusual. When we are challenged or hit rough spots in our lives, most of us are inclined to saywe are "depressed" without giving it a second thought. But upon scrutiny we have to know that depression is much more than just feeling sad. In fact depression is a condition that causes you to feel much more than sadness.

People with depression also feel hopeless, insignificant, and helpless, and these feelings can dominate for days, weeks, or even longer. Depression affects normal functioning and can start to affect the various aspects of life in general.

When we find out someone close to us has depression, we may feel at a loss with regards to how we can help and how we can reach out. To be able to help someone with depression, we should start with knowing what depression is and how it affects someone in daily life. If we take that extra step to arm ourselves with the knowledge we need to help the people we care about, then we may very well become important factors in their recovery and healing processes.

This book is recorded in a way that is easy to digest, and each portion of the content will give you information in quick tips that are easy to listen to, understand, and apply in real life.

Audio Editing Needed

The performance has a number of retakes that should have been removed before publication. The content is very basic, almost too basic to be useful.

Interesting, useful and you'll learn something

Any additional comments?

This book is written for anyone to help friends and relatives who are suffering from depression. It goes beyond helpful tips though, and goes into quite some detail regarding exactly what depression is which I found interesting.

The book acknowledges that dealing with someone with depression can be frustrating, and emphasizes the fact that there may be no obvious reason why they are feeling down. It helps you see the world from their perspective and therefore stops you feeling annoyed with them. It's an insight that might just help you in some tricky times in your life.

The narrator does make a couple of small mistakes, but it doesn't distract from the content.

I was gifted a copy of this book - all opinions are my own.

Good information - not good narration

1. Bad editing. There were several repeats in voice over
2. Narrator spoke too quickly and needs to pause between tips and strategies
3. Lacked vocal variety. It was like listening to someone just say the words not really connecting with what was said

Average

It mentions information that exists everywhere.. more valid solutions would have been great but this is more like explaining the existing situation!

Solid basis of how to cope

Narrator was well enough, although the recording device was lacking.
Chapters were broken down into "tips" that were discussed further.

This book is alright.

This book is alright. It gives you some ideas on how to deal with depressed people. I wish it would go into more depth detail. Also there are a few times where it repeats its self. but here's it's s good start.
