Getting even better

After getting away by the skin of their teeth, Billy wants to go _back_ into the city to rescue his mom. I don't know why people always think in zombie books that everyone is dead, except just their particular loved one who has stayed put waiting to be rescued.

But its all a rather believable story, there is a reason why there's not too many zombies about, and the conspiracy plot begins to thicken. Little by little things are revealed; the cops don't seem to be who they are, and whats this about a cure?

This story is mostly about Laura, fighting for her life and kids, and boy does she take a beating here. Laura's character starts to develop now, no longer the naive civilized wife, she not only needs to be smart to survive, but also brutal. Its all rather exciting. And gross.

Deadlocked 2 picks up, without missing beat

Like I said earlier Deadlocked 2 picks up, without missing beat, immediately after the first book but from David's wife Laura's perspective. The zombie apocalypse continues to allow the crazy's to come out of the wood work, not sure how they manage but they do. Now it is up to Laura to keep the family together. She's powered by adrenaline, grief, Oxycontin and the fundamental instinct to protect her children. Wise believes that women characters are, more often that not, not portrayed as real women probably would be in these situations. I find it very refreshing when a strong willed stand alone female protagonists hit my ear, there should be more. I will be listening to the next chapter, I just can't help myself.

NO there are so many in this genre that are much better written than this one. in the end this book and I know it's fiction but even on the a fiction level this is totally unbelievable tripe :(

characters not believable at all and incredibly stupid.

Good but not great

I adored the first book in the series and love how the author is writing a different character each book as the story progresses but I wasn't fond of this book and truly dislike the character.

She's whiney one second than kicking butt the next. On her last leg she's fighting zombies and making some horribly stupid choices. I almost inclined to say but I won't spoil it. The action is non stop and the descriptions are vivid and not for those with a weak stomach. I'm interested in the character in book 3 because I already like him so I wil move on and listento it.

Survival amongst the evil

This is a good story about surviving the zombies, evil people and chemical warfare. I am excited to read the next book in the series.

The mom was a very strong women. I liked that.

The narrator lacked emotion the same with the first.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When she hit the guy with the bat that they saved because he wanted to take billie's boat and her trip to the pharmacy to save her daughter.

I just wish they all had the same narrator. Loved the narrator in 3. He did the Remaining too. Loved him

BRUTAL HUMANITY

SOMETIMES I LISTEN TO A BOOK AND WANT TO REACH IN AND RESCUE THE UNFORTUNATE SOULS WHO I KNOW ARE GOING TO BE VICTIMS. IN THIS BOOK I GRIPPED THE EDGE OF MY SEAT AND HELD MY BREATH IN HOPES THE VICTIMS ARE RESCUED AND SAVED BUT THIS IS NOT A HEARTFELT ROMANCE OR FAIRYTALE.....THIS IS THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE AND EVERYONE ALIVE BECOMES A VICTIM IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.....SOME BY SHARKS, ZOMBIES, OR HUMANS. RELENTLESS AND SCARY AS HELL. BUCKLE-UP LISTENERS BECAUSE THIS RIDE DOES NOT STOP ANYTIME SOON.

when the mom would do anything for her kids to live that is truly amazing

Great series that will hold you captive. Does not always turn out well for the group - just like in life. Plot gets a little convoluted, but it is a zombie story!

Couldn't finish

I rather enjoyed the first book of this series, that's why I can't understand why this good disappointed me so much...I couldn't even finish the story.

I think it was the dialog or maybe it's because the main character was female and the author doesn't seem to write women as well. Either way, I had to give it.
