Story
Everyone is looking for shortcuts in life, but rarely do they find the kind they're looking for, and when they do, it never turns out like they thought. But what if you were to accidentally fall into cahoots with an other-worldly creature, who could provide those shortcuts and so much more? Of course, there's always a price attached to such favors, but killing gets easier the more you do it, and everything is great as long as the rewards outweigh the risk.

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

It’s the mid-'90s. Grunge and flannel are fading as the Spice Girls and Hot Topic conquer the malls. Cherry gloss glistens on the lips of the youth. Modems hiss as America comes online. As Nicky Hector—the unstoppable slasher from the Lunatic horror movie franchise—Jonathan Zain reached levels of fame once unimaginable to a young actor. On top of headlining fifteen films, he appeared on MTV, had his own 976 number, and became one of the most recognizable faces of the 1980s. But that was thirty years ago. Now it’s 2010, and Zain is a has-been celebrity making his living signing autographs at fan conventions, a relic of the bygone slasher movie boom.

Publisher's summary
Cody Burns is a voice actor who lucked into his dream gig. He works from home, sets his
own schedule, and parties every night like the ship is going down. So what if he’s a little late
turning work in to his agent every once in a while? He’s got the golden pipes and is in demand.
When a competing agent contacts him out of the blue with a once in a lifetime offer and the
answer to getting out from under the thumb of his current representation, Cody is more than
intrigued.
The mysterious agent takes care of his every whim keeping Cody happy, on task, and
working hard. The only caveat being he cannot miss a deadline without having certain and
specific penalties levied against him. It all seems well and good, until he discovers the job is
filled with mounting degrees of difficulty that challenge his talent, sanity, and the time
constraints he’s given.
Following threats, vandalism, and the death of an actress whose story strangely mirrors
his, he realizes working with the new agent is not what he expected, especially when missing
the next deadline could be the end of the line for him.

The Stress of an Impending DEADLINE
Anyone who has found themselves up against a deadline knows how it can be very stressful. Writer and narrator John Wayne Comunale takes us on a fun wild ride of an audiobook narrator who finds himself up against a deadline. Once again JWC gives an amazing performance as I have come to expect and the story has a big time Bentley Little vibe to the point I kinda question the decision of not calling this book THE Deadline, yet it is still without a doubt a John Wayne Comunale story which is a great thing!
