Publisher's summary

The chilling true story of Oregon's most shocking killer! Jimmy Rode was serving a sentence for burglary in a Florida prison when he met serial killer Ted Bundy. It was Bundy who gave him a Seattle newspaper containing personal ads - an easy means for meeting vulnerable female victims - that launched Rode on a coast-to-coast killing spree under the alias of Cesar Barone. Now, in detail, Lasseter unleashes the story of Jimmy Rode.

Good book-terrible narration.

The book was well-written and interesting. The narration sounded like an automated phone service. True crime stories are great!

Great story, awesome narration

Any additional comments?

Top notch audiobook tells a compelling story that speeds along without getting bogged down in background. Clear and crisp pronunciation by the narrator, not overly dramatized, overall just a pleasure to listen to. I hope that Kim Houston collaborates on the production of many more audio titles!

Annoying Tone of Voice

I couldn't stand the narrators tone of voice and accentuation of the second to last syllable of every sentence. Further adding to the annoyance, the original recorded audio was over edited by reducing the pauses between sentences

Kim Houson is Perfect for Children's Books

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Okay, so I haven't actually managed to listen to this book yet. I've been trying, but I keep finding myself drifting off. Why? Because Houston reads this book in the same tone of voice I use when I am reading to toddlers. It's sweet and sing-song. A perfect voice for reading to children, but hardly appropriate for True Crime. It's terribly distracting and I'm not enjoying this book at all.

Would you ever listen to anything by Don Lasseter again?

Yes, as long as Ms. Houston is not the narrator.

What didn’t you like about Kim Houston’s performance?

Please read the above. Seriously, try the preview of this book before buying it.

What character would you cut from Dead of Night?

Not exactly a story you cut character's from. This book is a narrative of the acts of a serial killer, you can't just remove people from it.

Any additional comments?

I will re-do this review if I can get through the story and comment on it.
