Publisher's summary

A foggy night. A detour. A long-hidden secret of alien origin. Thus begins 24 hours of suspense and bone-chilling terror for teenager Emma London and a handful of survivors in the midst of a zombie outbreak.

In the tradition of George Romero's Dawn of the Dead and Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead, Dead Rain is an epic tale of zombie hordes and deadly human intrigue from Joe Augustyn, who created the original horror movie Night of the Demons.

STAY FAR FAR AWAY. Not worth the credit

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Needs to find another narrator. The intro I thought was a joke at first and couldnt sound like this all the way. The narrator sounds like a 14 year old boy desperately trying to sound suspenseful in a whisper. After getting to chapter one, I lasted about 3 minuets. Do yourself a favor, pass it until a new narrator is used.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Thin is the worst narrator I have ever heard. Where did this boy record it? In his closet with a blanket over his head and flashlight wispering so he doesnt wake mom or dad? Horrible. Horrible.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger because I can't stand the narrator and it looks like I wasted a credit.

Possibly Ruined by Narration

I couldn't get in to the actual story because the narrator was so bad. He sounds like he is whispering soft core porn in a Batman voice. He sounds the same the whole time, so it is not just for effect. The narrator needs to reexamine his technique or go back to being a phone sex operator.

I say possibly ruined by narration, because I cannot tell if the book was bad to begin with. I don't think the rain caused the zombies, so don't go in thinking that. Some small town has a special cemetery where zombies were maintained by generations of a sheriff's family. They get out. The scary part is the ear molesting you'll get from the narrator.

Interesting take on the whole zombie mythos.

Would you consider the audio edition of Dead Rain: A Tale of the Zombie Apocalypse to be better than the print version?

Yes, Jared Wekenman does a good job at conveying pure monotone dread. In a good way.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dead Rain: A Tale of the Zombie Apocalypse?

No spoilers but the whole book was full of fantastic moments.

Did Jared Wekenman do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

For the most part. Each person had a good representation of gender, age, and emotion

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Moved me? None. However I was quite happy with the read as a whole. Lots of very fun parts. Also be wary of who you like as a character. This has Game of Thrones syndrome hahaha.
