Publisher's summary

Reanimated after being bitten, Vice Cop Derek Burnham and a mysterious woman named Lorelei now possess supernatural abilities and a hunger for human flesh in Dead Market.

It seems their reawakening has rewired their DNA. They are neither zombie nor vampire - but something created via genetic rewiring. When the pair discovers the true purpose behind their affliction - a corporation’s greed to expand its market share into the living dead - they must fight not only their sick compulsions, but also a multibillion dollar company hell-bent on hooking victims onto a new, cutting-edge pharmaceutical.

Fun ride

This is a fast paced entertaining story, a real “page turner”. I enjoyed the unique spin on the usually tired genre of zombies/monsters vs. some paramilitary group of survivors. The narration starts out pretty one dimensional but as more characters are introduced the narrators depth starts to show and I found it quite enjoyable.

Batman as a vampire?

This is a sci fi take on vampires and big pharma evilness. The mad doctor wants to do good, the big company wants to make money. Mix in a bit of sex snd a little revenge and you are soon following a cop who is just trying to keep doing good and figure out who turned him into a monster along the way.

Interesting premise. Cool, unpredictable characters. Solid plot. Happy (ish?). Well, sufficiently happy ending to avoid total tragedy anyway. A great listen.

The narrator helped keep up a good pace snd provided expression and depth.

Don’t expect a lot of science. Do expect a bunch of action movie type running around snd beating up bad guys.

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for a fair review

Great Story!

I received this audio book for free in exchange for my honest review. This very well written and superbly narrated story isn't your typical zombie tale. Anyone that's a fan of this genre will definitely enjoy this one.

Not-Exactly Supernatural Fiction

I received a review copy of this book.

This was a fun listen. The book has its flaws, mostly by being too "on the nose" with its dialog and narration, but that doesn't spoil the story. Sit back, read or listen, and don't think too hard, and you'll have no problem.

I didn't care for the narration of the audiobook in particular, as her was a bit overdramatic at times and slipped up on character voices more than once.

Interesting take on Undead

Full disclosure: I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Dead Market has an interesting premise; a greedy corporation funds research to make a disease and a treatment for the disease. Not a cure, but a treatment that must be taken continuously. This means that the corporation can inflict the disease on many and rake in money while they work on developing a cure. Only, they don't have or want a cure as they can continue to make profits with the treatment. The disease kills the afflicted and turns them into the undead. When the undead wake up, they have an overpowering hunger for flesh, but after a time, the hunger is less overpowering and they are able to think coherently again. Along with returning from the dead, each person has increased attributes but vary between individuals such as being stronger or faster, and finally each individual is granted different abilities. Some gain the ability to have telepathy, super hearing, or super smell for example.
The books centers around Derek and Lorelei coming to terms with being undead, discovering their new powers, dealing with their hunger, and taking on the corporation when they discover the truth.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, It was entertaining and an interesting listen.

The narrator did a good job and was clear.

great story

I enjoyed the story and character development. There's some plot twists. Some parts a little predictable, but I was ok with that. I'm excited to see if this is a series, hopefully it is. Really good narration, easy to listen to.
