Publisher's Summary

Best-selling author Tara Moss returns to crime fiction with a stunning new serie, and a stunning new heroine. Meet PI Billie Walker - smart and sexy, with a dash of Mae West humour, she's a hard-boiled detective with a twist.

World War II has left Billie Walker a widow, but she's determined not to rely on any man for her future, so she reopens her late father's detective agency.

Billie's bread and butter is tailing cheating husbands - it's easy, it pays the bills and she has a knack for it. But her latest case, the disappearance of a young man, is not proving straightforward....

Soon Billie is up to her stylish collar in bad men, and not just the cheating kind - these are the murdering kind. Smugglers. Players. Gangsters. Billie and her loyal assistant must pit their wits against the underworld of Sydney and find the young man before it's too late.

Quite good

Story builds to great climax in the last third of the book then slows considerably after that.

Gentle yet gripping

This book encompasses so many things I love! An Australian setting, historical crime fiction, a fiesty female lead, vintage fashion and an Aboriginal perspective respectfully interwoven.

Fabulous.

I loved everything about this book. The world that Tara Moss has created with Billie Walker at its centre is intriguing, suspenseful and sexy.
The narration is perfect.
I can’t wait to follow her on her next exploit.
