Story
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch a tiger by its toe. It's seared into Atlee Pine's memory: the kidnapper's chilling rhyme as he chose between six-year-old Atlee and her twin sister, Mercy. Mercy was taken. Atlee was spared. She never saw Mercy again. Three decades after that terrifying night, Atlee Pine works for the FBI. She's the lone agent assigned to the Shattered Rock, Arizona resident agency, which is responsible for protecting the Grand Canyon. So when one of the Grand Canyon's mules is found stabbed to death at the bottom of the canyon - and its rider missing - Pine is called in to investigate.

Story
It's 1949. When war veteran Aloysius Archer is released from Carderock Prison, he is sent to Poca City on parole with a short list of dos and a much longer list of don'ts: do report regularly to his parole officer, don't go to bars, certainly don't drink alcohol, do get a job - and don't ever associate with loose women. The small town quickly proves more complicated and dangerous than Archer's years serving in the war or his time in jail.

Publisher's Summary
Daylight is the gripping follow-up to Long Road to Mercy and A Minute to Midnight featuring Special Agent Atlee Pine from one of the world’s most favourite thriller writers, David Baldacci.
FBI Agent Atlee Pine’s search for her twin sister, Mercy, coincides with Military Investigator John Puller’s high-stakes case, leading them both into a global conspiracy from which neither of them will escape unscathed. Ever since Mercy was abducted after a brutal incident when the girls were just six years old, Atlee has been relentless in her search for the truth.
Now, just as time is running out on her investigation, she finally gets her most promising breakthrough yet - the identity of her sister’s kidnapper: Ito Vincenzo. Last known location: New Jersey.
As Atlee and her assistant, Carol Blum, race to track down Vincenzo, they run into Pine's old friend John Puller, who is investigating Vincenzo’s family for another crime involving a military installation. Working together, Pine and Puller pull back the layers of deceit, lies and cover-ups that strike at the very heart of global democracy. And the truth about what happened to Mercy is finally revealed. And that truth will shock Atlee Pine to her very core.

Keeps growing
The characters are now fully developed. Altee is still hunting for her sister, and following the clues from the last book thing start to move forward. During her investigations she crosses paths with an old friend Puller and gets caught up in his investigation. Things are once again fast paced and very well written and performed. Looking forward to the win this series. The character of Pulled is such that his own spin off would not be a surprise.

ATTLEE JUST GOT BRATTY
Not sure what is happening with DB he has definitely gone off the boil, there are glaring issues with the plot that the author tries to explain when the characters debrief events. but the explanations are as dodgy as the pot holes.
Unfortunately the Attlee Pine character has become unlikable and unbelievable.
This almost feels like Baldacci has written a loose premise and plot line for the story and handed it over to someone else to write.
in theory having read the first 3 books in the series I should be itching to read the 4th and final instalment to see how it all turns out. However I no longer care enough about the character to spend a credit to find out. I'll stick the 4th book on my wish list in case it turns up in a sale or on the daily deal but I'm not wasting a full credit on it.
