That's it- I'm moving to Midnight!
What made the experience of listening to Day Shift the most enjoyable?
Ever since reading the first in the series- I have been anxiously awaiting to return to Midnight. I enjoyed the book from start to finish. You can't help getting attached to the characters. I was very excited when a couple familiar faces from other Harris novels showed up. I can't get enough of these characters or this "world" Harris has created.
What other book might you compare Day Shift to and why?
If you loved other novels by Charlaine Harris- you will love this book. (Series) Supernatural stuff aside- this is a very real world and adding the "supes" to her books, makes you wonder if she knows something we don't.
Have you listened to any of Susan Bennett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
The only other Susan Bennett I have listened to was the first Midnight novel. She's magnificent. Just as Joanna Parker is to Southern Vampire (Sookie/True Blood), Bennett is to Midnight. After listening to the first novel- I'd have been sad to hear someone else.

Love these characters!
I really am liking this series. The second book is a good story and we get to see more of the characters come together. I found myself chuckling in a few areas too.

great book
Charlaine Harris can make the most extraordinary tales believable with her flawless ear for local dialects and customs. All her character's are so likable with surprising depths. This was a real page-turner.

Interesting
There were a lot of characters to keep track of, but for the most part well done. There were a couple of minor cliffhangers. Adequate world building, but it might help to have read the Sookie books. The solution of the mystery/problem relied to much on things outside the book. There were some pretty big holes, for example how did the restaurant manage to stay open with so few clients? and where did the people come from who were burying their pets.
