A thrilling story about sisterhood, secrets, love and murder by Sally Hepworth, the New York Times bestselling author of The Soulmate and The Mother-in-Law.

It’s not just secrets buried at Wild Meadows.

For as long as they can remember, Jessica, Norah and Alicia have been told how lucky they are. Rescued from their own family tragedies, they were raised by a loving foster mother on an idyllic farming estate and given an elusive second chance for a happy family life.

But the girls’ childhood wasn’t quite the fairy tale everyone thinks it was. And when a body is discovered under the home they grew up in, the three foster sisters find themselves thrust into the spotlight as key witnesses.

It’s time for them to return home as adults. The only question is are they innocent victims or the prime suspects for murder?

With darkly comic timing and insidiously twisting plots, Sally Hepworth’s novels are guaranteed to keep you listening . . .

Critic reviews

Sally Hepworth's Darling Girls is the kind of story that grabs you hard and doesn't let go. Easily one of the best books I've read all year. An absolute page-turner from first word to last, and a story told with wit and compassion. It's got HUGE HIT written all over it, and I'm going to be pressing it into the hands of everyone I know. A superb and haunting mystery (Jane Harper, bestselling author of Exiles)
A fun psychological suspense thriller (Emily Henry, author of Book Lovers and Happy Place)
Gripping
Suspenseful page-turner
A suspenseful psychological thriller, poignantly shrouding a decades old mystery
Split between the sisters’ perspectives, Darling Girls is a thoughtfully written, slow-burn mystery about sisterhood, secrets and foster system failures
Tingling tension galore

Great suspense filled story. I loved the focus on sisters, the beautifully developed characters, a story about foster care - something many of us never encounter. There was a lot in the pace and storylines here. It was so hard not to rush-binge listen my way through this audiobook, the hard copy might have slowed me a little more to savour the details and piece together the clues a little better. Slow down and savour this one to enjoy every piece of the puzzle.
