Publisher's summary

Medieval England comes alive in audiobook one of the exciting new sub-series The Dark Sons (part of the de Russe Legacy).

AD 1518 - As the eldest son of the knight who betrayed Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth (Gaston de Russe of The Dark One: Dark Knight), Trenton de Russe bears the dark legacy of men who changed the course of history. The name de Russe is both hated and revered in England and is well-known to the kings of England who have depended upon the family for their strongest, most noble, and sometimes most controversial knights.

Trenton is a man with great burdens to bear. As a special ops knight for Henry VIII, it is Trenton’s duty to carry out the king’s command, and he has been known to have accomplished some questionable as well as dirty tasks. With Trenton as Henry’s attack dog, enemies fear de Russe more than the king himself.

Trenton suffers a dysfunctional relationship with his father because of it. Gaston never wanted his son to follow in his footsteps, but Trenton has become so deeply entrenched in Henry’s dirty dealings that it is all he knows. In a desperate move to lure his son away from Henry once and for all, Gaston calls his son home under false pretenses. Begrudgingly, Trenton heads for Deverill Castle, seat of his father’s dukedom.

Enter Lysabel Wellesbourne le Mon. Daughter of Gaston’s best friend, Matthew Wellesbourne (The White Lord of Wellesbourne), Lysabel is a widow with two young children. In a chance meeting with Trenton, whom she has known since birth but has not seen in several years, an unexpected spark ignites between them.

Unfortunately, it is a spark that can burn down the strong relations between the House of Wellesbourne and the House of de Russe. Matthew doesn’t want the dark and fearsome Trenton for his daughter, but the fire that burns between the pair is stronger than Matthew can control. No amount of water will douse it, and Matthew turns to Gaston for help.

Will Gaston side against his estranged son? Or will the relationship between two old and dear friends be destroyed by a love that cannot be denied?

Welcome back to de Russe’s medieval England in this spectacular tale of adventure and romance. This is a full-length novel.

Note: The de Russe Legacy series can be listened to in any order, as they are all stand-alone novels, but the chronological order (by the year the story is set in) is:

  1. Lord of War: Black Angel
  2. The Iron Knight
  3. Beast
  4. The White Lord of Wellesbourne
  5. The Dark One: Dark Knight
  6. Dark Moon

Heart moving

Trenton’s story is so emotional. As with his father, Gaston de Russe ‘s story, I found myself on an emotional roller coaster ride. This is a definite read after The Dark One: The Dark Knight. Even though Dark Moon can be a stand-alone, you’d appreciate and love Gaston more in Dark Moon if you experienced the story of Trenton’s parents first.
Brad Wills is an exceptional narrator and he was perfect in Dark Moon. I love the additional voices for the young girls! Looking forward to more of this for the de Russe sons tales! You can not go wrong with Brad Wills and Kathryn Le Veque!

AWESOME

This is another awesome story written by LeVeque. Trenton and Lysabel long to be together but there are circumstances that stand in the way. It was great to visit the Dark One and the White Knight. This book was very entertaining and held my attention to the very end. Narrator did a great job.

The wonderful de Russe ride continues!

I loved it. Caution: If you adored Gaston of The Dark Knight, do not read this book without a box of tissue! Trenton inherits so many qualities of his father. Yet he suffers too because of the mistakes of the father. Trenton has overcome such insurmountable obstacles of his childhood, and yet he can love and love deeply. There is reconciling and redemption. Wonderful testament to the transcending power of love. I wept for Trenton and with him. Spoiler alert: Love Prevailed!!!!

Great story

Love these stories when you see women who were terribly abused turn out to find their love and protector for life. Same in reverse when a man is abused in certain ways and finds his way to love and freedom from constraints.

Another Good Book

If you listened/read the The Dark One: Dark Knight, then you know about Trenton's history and you want to know how he turned out. This book was another emotional ride, humorous and sometimes surprising in a sad way. KLV makes you fall in love with the characters and for me I went from one book to the next. Even now, I am ready for Dan's story.

This book starts off with a surprise and from there you are taken in.

Great story, great narration

This one made me laugh and cry. Loved the voices of the little girls, better than most. often children are made to sound screechy, these just sounded right.

Never disappoints

First Kathryn took Trenton's story down a path I never imagined but when you add Brad Wills as the narrator, get your Kleenex box handy. Brad's portrayal of Trenton is spot on. My favorite voice of all his characters. And I've ready many! He is so good at taking Kathryn's material and making it come to life. I totally get immersed in the storyline and don't want to shut it off. Kudos to Kathryn and Brad for another winner.

Fantastic!

What a great story of life! Brad Wills is the narrator that will suck you right into the characters. You will think you are watching every minute right beside them. The little girls that narrated, brought so much to the table. They were so good! I loved it!
