Publisher's summary

Charlotte couldn't escape...from the prison Raymond put her in or from the dark love she found with him. Especially when she realized that the darkness was inside her too...

Charlotte:

I ran away from my crap life of stripping and living with my father in a trash heap of a trailer.

I thought I was headed toward freedom but I woke up in another prison.

A prison that was built just for me.

He knows things about me that no one should.

He sees things in me that I can't see.

I don't want to be here.

But I don't want to leave him either.

He's a monster for keeping me prisoner.

But I'm a monster, too, for loving the dark, dirty things he does to me.

Raymond:

I know I messed up.

I've been alone in this house for far too long.

Alone except the servants that skulk around in the darkness.

But then I found Charlotte and I had to have her.

I had to take her.

I have to make her mine.

Now I don't want to live without her.

But if I can't convince her to stay...they won't let either one of us live.

Dark Love is a dark romance that contains dark sexual themes and is 40k words in length. It's the first part of a two-part series.

Dark!

Dark Love an erotic dark romance by JB Duvane. The storyline is sensual, dark, and twisted with complex characters. Excellent narration by Logan McAllister and Lacy Laurel. The portrayed the characters and intense scene very nicely, bringing the story to life. This was definitely a dark but very enjoyable story and, I highly recommend it. I received a complimentary audiobook, and my review is voluntarily given.

Dark, Twisted, and Sexy

Mystery and suspense along with romance are a favorite of mine. I found this book to be very good, but I didn't like that it is in two parts. Both main characters are flawed and have big issues. I wasn't sure if I liked the story jumping from present to past back and forth. Regarding the narration, I thought that both Logan McAllister and Lacy Laurel did a great performance. I had read this book (by JB Duvane) before listening to it so I was familiar with the story. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily written this review.

Dark and a little creepy

Slow in the beginning, Dark Love is proving to be an interesting listen. I always find the intricate workings of JB Duvane completely intriguing, and this one does not disappoint. Charlotte comes with a difficult past and wants to shelter herself from everyone through her dancing. Raymond, growing up with a mentally unstable mother and an unhealthy attachment to her is trying to find his way out of his situation.Throw in the crazy staff that lives in Raymond's house and the alpha tendencies he has and you have part one of this book. There is enough build up and entertainment to leave you wanting to hear part two of this book, and see where the two characters end up.

Logan McAllister and Lacy Laurel portray this cast of characters well. They have you believing the craziness and unwarranted attraction between Charlotte and Raymond. Let's hope part 2 comes soon!

WOW! Excellent story - Very creative and intriguing

This Audible Book, had me hooked from the beginning. The narrators were excellent and I could easily follow along and only found myself rewinding to listen to the freaky physiological mind blowing situations.
JB Duvane is clearly an imaginative writer and I can't wait for Dark Love Book Two. The characters each have challenging pasts and for some reason, I am completely rooting for Charlotte and Raymond. Can't wait for the rest of the story!

Odd odd odd

I don’t know how I feel.
Obviously the second part of this series will hold the answers?

So much is left to a guess at the moment so the author has done a good job in relation to me wanting to read book two.

Good level of smut, Stockholm syndrome…. Or magic? And two people with dark pasts.

It’s interesting.
I was gifted this audio - this is my honest review

Charlotte and Raymond

Both Raymond and Charlotte grew up with dark pasts. Raymond’s mother was a crazy b!tch and Charlotte’s father was a dirty, stinking b@stard and a slob. Raymond and his mother lived in a huge house and Charlotte and her father lived in a small trailer. Charlotte worked in a strip club where they first appear to meet. He requested her in one of the back rooms. She never had sex with any of the patrons. He wanted her to expose the real her since some how he knew she hid her real self. He gives her a huge tip, enough for her to leave the club and start her journey to AZ. His face was not revealed. Apparently, he had been watching her for some time. On her way to AZ, Raymond kidnaps her. When he let's her go when she worries about her horrible father, Raymond follows her. This book ends in a cliffhanger and part 2 is not on Audible,

Logan McAllister and Lacy Laurel did a good job with the narration. Lacy Laurel is so much better when there is dual narration.

Wow! Definitely keep me intrigued & wanting more!

What did you love best about Dark Love: Part One?

Where to begin. So, the blurb really doesn’t cover this book. We start with flashbacks of Raymond’s childhood and then jump to the present day with Charlotte and back and forth. It was a bit confusing for the first third of the book since they didn’t interact with each other. Then she is taken and held by Raymond, but the reason things are the way they are is bizarre at best. There is a voodoo type theme to the book and Raymond is sheltered from the going ons in the house through most of his life. This book definitely grabbed my attention and left me wanting more to figure out the puzzle.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dark Love: Part One?

The whip scene!

What does Logan McAllister and Lacy Laurel bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Lacy brings Charlotte to life! I loved the dual narration.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Must Like Dark and Depressing

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I like dark, but this was just depressing to me. Both of the main characters led such depressing lives and had such abusive backgrounds and then perpetuated the cycle. I realize it's fiction and perhaps this level of abuse is entertaining to some (and to each his/her own), just not to me. I struggled to listen to the whole book and wanted to quit several times. Both characters seemed to have split personalities and it was just all very confusing. 2 out of 5 wine glasses.

Not for me

I tried really hard to make it all the way through this, but I just couldn’t do it. I stopped and started a handful of times and only made it 75% through.

The story line felt super creepy to me and not in a sexy way that I can get past. I also did not like the narration at all.

Great

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher, and/or narrator

I loved most things about the book. The dual narrators, the narration, the characters, the plot line and the ending. I cannot wait to listen or read to the next book in the series! Everyone should give this a go.
