Publisher's summary

Investigating the discovery of the body, Sergeant Holly Rudd knows she’s an unwelcome presence in the close-knit community of Bamfield. But she doesn’t expect the residents to be spooked by the mere sight of her. What rattles Holly even more, though, is her overwhelming desire for diver and former Special Forces soldier Finn Carver.

Finn has no doubt that the corpse he found while diving was a victim of foul play - just as there’s no doubt that he wants Holly. Now the two will have to come together to outwit a criminal who’s already gotten away with murder.

Boringly Dissapointed

Every time (EVERY time) the "hero" and "heroine" of this story glance at one another, the plot (such as it is) comes to a dead standstill while whichever protagonist currently holds POV indulges in paragraphs of lustfilled thoughts and then more paragraphs thinking about why it's a bad idea. Over and over again to the point of being stupid.
You expect some of that in romantic suspense but Ms. Anderson manages to make it boring and repetitive instead of using it for character development and excitement. Added to her penchant for having her characters talk almost exclusively in lame cliches, it renders the book almost listenable.
Having said that over 80% of people rated this book 4 or 5 so maybe this style is not for me.

Emily Beresford was good with the delivery of the story.

Riveting

Exciting. Great narration. Intriguing depiction of characters. Riveting story line. Plot twists unpredictable. I look forward to more from this author.

Another romance novel.

I guess I should have known that this would be a romance novel but I didn't read the reviews. The narrator doesn't handle the male voice very well.

Very poor performance and immature writing style

What would have made Dangerous Waters better?

I would like to say a different narrator, but the story is a very immature story line.

What was most disappointing about Toni Anderson’s story?

Very immature writing style; the story line seemed to be more about the sexual innuendos then solving of the murders.

How could the performance have been better?

It is very obvious the narrator is attempting to impersonate a male voice. However, it is poorly done and very distracting when you are trying to listen to the reader.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Dangerous Waters?

I would definitely do away with the sexual undertones and innuendos, the curse words especially the f word. The use of these gimmicks to make a story more interesting is in very poor taste and leaves the writing talent questionable.

Any additional comments?

I would not recommend this book.

Narration Was Just Ok

I started this book listening to the narration, but had to switch to the ebook. The narration was ok, but I would have rather listened to Eric G. Dove narrative this book.

The book started out fine. I did wonder how the prologue was going to tie into the rest of the mystery. When Holly appeared in town, and everyone started reacting to her, that was a dead giveaway.

I couldn't buy Holly as a cop. She unknowingly was involved in a situation that she removed herself from once the truth came to light. I didn't understand her need to hold her head down in shame. On the other hand, she couldn't have held off with Finn until the case was closed? And why did she feel the need to run off investigating things without letting her team know?

Finn and Holly had an interesting dynamic. I wouldn't call it romantic, and I was surprised by the declarations of love.

I was also surprised that when Holly learned the truth there seemed to be such an easy acceptance. I wish there had been an epilogue that would have given a bit more info as to how the characters moved forward.

This was a decent read. It seemed to drag in some places. One part of the mystery connecting to the other part of the mystery did feel more like 2 puzzle pieces being forced to connect. I am still moving on to Brent's story which might be the more Interesting of the two.

A romance based in Canada

The main characters are interesting- an ex-SEAL and a serving RMP Officer . The officer arrives in a town to investigate a murder and is met with a strange story of a thirty year old double of a doppelgänger.
For me narration stopped it being 5*.

Action packed

This story was full of mystery, intrigue and unexpected twists. The story was easy to listen to and I found plenty of reasons not to turn it off.
I’m about to start the second on this duo.
