This has to be Mary Roberts Rinehart's worst book, propaganda to make "slacker women" feel bad about themselves. Added to that, we have such glaring reading errors as "big, booming bass (rhymes with class) voice and fastiduous instead of fastidious. Ms. Evans is to be excused. She is an actress, but aren't there any editors who actually listened to the thing and could have corrected the boo-boo's.

Is it possible that they thought that only the errors made this reading interesting?
