Sweeping story

The story moves at a different pace. You begin to see the characters and the setting as if you are there. The people become so well developed they could be your neighbors. Time for a quiet story with some action? This is it.

Ghost After Justice

Dancing with a Ghost by Angela Pepper is a fun cozy listen. I love the Restless Spirits Cozy Ghost Mysteries, as each book is a standalone listen. This book features Katie with a ghost following her. She goes to a New Mexico art retreat to get away from it. Who to trust? I loved the suspense in this book. The characters are unique, the imagery is great, and the listen is fun. Marie Hoffman brings the characters to life with her distinguishable voices for the characters. I love how she flawlessly has them fit the personality. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will most definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

NOT YOUR AVERAGE GHOST STORY

Its a who dun it with a bit of personal discovery along the way. Its real enough that it could happen to you, so it was easy to feel as one with the main girl that the whole story follows.

The Ghosts of Katie’s Past

Each of the books in this series are standalone stories with different characters, so you can listen in any order! The best part is that each story is also so different from the other! Nothing about them is similar, except for the aspect of a ghost (or ghosts). It’s not scary or overly spooky, it’s still quite cozy and lots of fun!
In this book Katie already has a ghost following her, and she tries to escape by going to an art retreat. There, things don’t go quite as she has planned.. There is quite a bit of suspense, especially at the end which will leave you guessing. I really enjoyed this listen (and the whole series)!

Great Book!

This is a great book; this is the third book in the Restless Spirits Cozy Mystery series and is written by Angela Pepper and narrated by Marie Hoffman. This book will keep you listening long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. She does a fantastic job with all the voices and kept my attention until the end.

CHARACTERS ARE WONDERFULLY COMPLEX

DANCING WITH A GHOST is the third book in the Restless Spirits series. The books in this series are stand-alones and can be read in any order. There are no recurring characters, instead there is a recurring theme. The ghost of a friend/confidante entrusting the main character to find them justice after life.

Though it was obvious (at least to me) who killed Katie’s roommate, still it felt like there were always more layers to be peeled away and discoveries to be made as she investigated the girl’s disappearance. Secrets, lies, deceptions, and fears are powerful motivators.

The new friends she finds at the retreat make me smile. They are wonderfully flawed and powerfully strong allies to have in her court… now and in her future.

I loved this story and I look forward to who may be the next ghost in this series.

Narration: Once again I loved listening to Marie Hoffman’s reading in this series. My only frustration was her pronunciation of Marco – it sounded too much like Margo.

Note: while I was given this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Mousy Art Student Channels Spirit of Dead

What’s creepier than having the ghost of your roommate haunt you? Taking a dead roommate's reservaton for self-improvement. That is exactly what happens in Dancing With a Ghost by Angela Pepper. The story begins when art student Katie Mills travels to New Mexico to attend an art retreat at Spirit Ranch hosted by a master painter. Even though Katie is normally the shy quiet type, she blossoms under the desert and paints with abandon. After one of the other guests is killed, Katie becomes more outgoing, friendly, and adventurous as she investigates the murder. The most interesting aspect of the story is that it seems like Katie’s roommate is living through her to investigate her own murder, which transforms Katie’s personality into one more similar to the dead roommate’s personality.

Dancing With a Ghost is the third book in the supernatural suspense series called the Restless Spirits Cozy Ghost Mysteries, which is not the typical cozy mystery series with reoccurring main characters who solve mysteries. Rather, it’s a series based on the premise that ghosts of the recently departed will manifest themselves to help protect a loved one or to seek justice. The ghost in this story is of the seeking justice variety.

Marie Hoffman narrated the Audible version of this story and she did an excellent job. I gladly listen to another audiobook narrated by her and in this series. I can't wait to see whose ghost appears next to this entertaining series!

This series keeps getting better

I enjoyed the first two books in the series and this book is even better. There's an ominous air to the story right from the beginning and a sense that there is more going on than meets the eye, and there is, even without a ghost being involved.

There were layers to this story, more than I normally expect from a cozy mystery, but this story is also a bit longer than I expect from a cozy, so perhaps that makes sense.

Katie is more than a bit quirky, she comes across as very shy at times and yet at others she definitely isn't, in fact she's contradictory is many ways, she withholds information at times and I dodn't understand why, it doesn't seem to serve a purpose.

The character interactions in this book are a highlight, it seems that everyone has something to hide.

The narration is well done, I liked the character voices and the delivery was a good match for the story.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Artsy cosy!

A different haunting cozy tale. Katie an art student goes on a week long retreat to study under her favorite famous artist taking her missing roommates spot on the sly. Trying to escape the literal ghost of her friend she discovers that the week was cancelled and only she and one other show up. Mystery surrounds the retreat guests and staff as she learns more about her missing friend and connection with the others at the ranch. Good story with less ghost than I expected but more mystery and it was great story with likable and loathsome characters alike. Kept me guessing! I enjoy this author as well as the narrator. Recommend! I received a free review copy of this book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
