Story
Killashandra Ree was drawn like a magnet to the song of crystal, and now it's erasing her memory. She knew the forgetfulness would be a byproduct of the singing, and she doesn't mind the little annoyances, like being unable to remember her address or the names of her colleagues. But she hadn't counted on the loneliness a person can feel when the heart still remembers what the mind has forgotten. Can the crystal that destroyed her memory somehow restore it?

Story
Sassinak was 12 when the raiders came. That made her just the right age: old enough to be used, young enough to be broken. Or so the slavers thought. But Sassy turned out to be a little different from your typical slave girl. Maybe it was her unusual physical strength. Maybe it was her friendship with the captured Fleet crewman. Maybe it was her spirit. Whatever it was, it wouldn't let her resign herself to the life of a slave. She bided her time, watched for her moment. Finally it came, and she escaped.

Getting Better All the Time
Would you consider the audio edition of Damia to be better than the print version?
I thoroughly enjoyed the print version but hearing it has reminded me why I love this series of books and characters.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Damia?
When her and Afra finally get together.
Have you listened to any of Jean Reed Bahle’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, I like this one much better than the first one. Maybe I am just getting used to her voicing style.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed out loud, a lot!

Rereading Favorite Childhood Books
Anne McCaffrey books were one the delights of my childhood! I read the ACORNA series, and knew I had a new Author!
I was also reading the Heinlein juveniles, CS Lewis, Asimov, and all the Science fiction I could get Chicago Public Libraries to.buy! I can honestly say they all stood the test of time. I am once again!

Growing up with psychic talent.
Even the most loving home can feel lonely if you are excluded. Damia feels excluded from her siblings and she turns to the cats and Afra as her friends. She is precocious and bright, she is also sneaky and adventurous. Another facet of what psychic ability could bring to a family and the humanity. The performance was good, not fantastic, but more of a reading than a performance.
