Publisher's summary

Daisy McDare wants nothing more than to find the man of her dreams and build a thriving interior decorator business. Instead she finds herself heartbroken and in the middle of a murder investigation.

Daisy is in the middle of a decorating job at a famed local celebrity's mansion when the arrogant painter is found murdered in his backyard studio. Suddenly there's a house full of suspects, each with a bigger reason to want the victim dead than the next.

When the local police get stumped during their investigation, Daisy realizes she'll have to take matters into her own hands.

But she can't crack the case alone. She recruits her cupcake-baking best friend, Samantha, wise-cracking Granny Annie, and her feisty West Highland terrier, Shamus, to find the killer.

Frothy delicious meringue of a cozy!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would definitely recommend this book to my friends that read cozies. It had everything I like in a good cozy - great protagonist, who-done-it plot and the lack of gore and graphic detail I look for in a cozy. The audio book reader, Caroline Shively, was the best reader of a light hearted cozy I ever heard. She kept the mood right where I want it, fun and interesting.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Daisy McDare and the Deadly Art Affair?

When her blind date didn't go as she had planned. I both felt sorry for Daisy and admired her resilience.

Have you listened to any of Caroline Shively’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I have the next audio book in the series (they were given to me as review copies, though I bought the Kindle books a while ago) and I can't wait to listen to it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no. I was enjoying it so much I wanted to draw out the fun, but I was also really into the whole story. I plan on listening to it again.

Any additional comments?

This is a series that is a "keeper" ... one I will revisit again and again. Not many audio books I can say that about.

Overdone with Desserts and.....

I expected to read a short mystery when I started this book. And, it was. But....., the ending of every scene, problem, solution and thought was a dessert!!! Donuts, brownies, chocolate, pies and cupcakes abound!!! And were available via bakery, or purse, for every possible emotion and experience. If you are an emotional eater then you will definitely identify with this book. For me, it became: "Oh, please, not another dessert." Which leads to the problem with this book. If you are reading a mystery, the mystery should be the thing you remember the most about the book. In this book, the thing I remember the most is all the sweets that were eaten!!!!

I found the audio narration to be as overdone as the desserts. In fact, if I had not been able to play it at double speed I would have never finished the book. The narration improved at double speed simply because too many words were over emphasized and speeding it up provided the needed camouflage. And, that's not necessarily a bad thing because in a lot of books the pace of narration is too slow but speeding up causes you to lose words. In this narration speeding it up improves it...no words lost. Double speed gives this one 2 stars on narration instead of 1 star.

I will be reading the next book in the series....I am hoping for less desserts.

Daisy McDare for the win!

This was my first book by K.M. Morgan and it was a great listen. Through her day job of interior decorating, she gets pulled into investigating a murder. The police officer on the job overlooks a few key details that Daisy explores to find a conclusion for the case. Daisy's go-to emotional support is sweets which she gets plenty of through her friend and Granny Annie. I think Granny Annie needs her own series or at least her own book, she is a hoot!
Narration by Caroline Shively was excellent and an easy listen. Looking forward to more in the series.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Fun listen!

Cozy mysteries are always a fun change for me to listen to. KM Morgan writes another engaging murder mystery for Daisy McDare to solve. Daisy has a decorating job at a local artist’s home. When she arrives to start, she finds him dead in his backyard studio. Not only is her job put on hold, but she is now in search of the culprit who killed him. With a quirky array of suspects, we get to meet and help figure the answers! Daisy has her good friend Samantha helping her out, and there is no shortage of sweets! Brought to life by Caroline Shively, the story is an afternoon of entertainment.

Attention to details come in handy for sleuthing.

Interesting story line. A good quick read. As the first in a series, I look forward to seeing what is in store for the decorating sleuth.

Excellent

Things are not going the way Daisy wants them, a love of her, a home. Even her job, the guy was arrogant, and now murder. Another delightful story and enjoyed the clear good voice by the narrator. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

A cute cozy mystery

Daisy McDare and the Deadly Art Affair is a cute cozy mystery starring an interior decorator. The story is fairly short and simple, and it provides a nice bit of entertainment.

The narrator of the audiobook does a decent job. She has a bit of a Valley Girl accent, and I’m not certain whether or not that works for the story. Maybe?

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Entertaining cozy mystery!

Is Daisy McDare an interior designer or a detective, or is she a detective who does interior design between cases? In this story, Daisy helps an old friend with her design problems as well as with a murder. This was a very enjoyable story to listen to, along with it moving along quickly, the narration by Caroline Shively really brought the story to life.

Cute Story

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my review.

I was in between series’ when I came across the Daisy Mae series and they looked interesting. This was a fun “who dun it” story with a twist at the end. I ho early wasn’t expecting the conclusion to wrap up the way it did and that just made it all the better. I look forward to listening to the rest of this series.

Daisy McDare

The story is funny and cozy. The narrator seems to have a smile when she reads but the voices at times seem to sound the same at times. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Audio copy of this book.
