Loved Judy and her words. She makes you feel like writing letters again. The narrator was fabulous ♡

Fantastic!

My only complaint about this book is that it wasn't 5 times longer! Beautiful performance, the narrator added such character to the story, and I now feel like a good friend of Judy's. Such a "deep sigh" book.

Cute. Good vocabulary words. Great narration.

This is a cute little book. Julia Whelan is the best narrator, so no matter the content, I choose books she narrates. The story is sweet - and I most enjoyed the expansive vocabulary. Really. It inspires me to read more of the classics as the protagonist did.

ARE YOU READY FOR A FEEL GOOD SOTRY?

My grandfather read this book to me when I was about 10 years old. He would sit by my bed and read a chapter or three every night. It was so fun to hear how life in the 1800’s was so different from my life in the 1970’s at the time. It was so exciting to see how Judy evolved and where she ended up. If you are feeling a little blue and could use a feel good story for a change, this is it. Also, you can never go wrong when the story is narrated by Julia Whelan. She is a real treasure.

Beautiful book, Amazing Performance

I have read the book some time ago but this audiobook production is superb. Julia Whelan’s voice and bubbly, enthusiastic performance has literally transformed her into a real-life Judy in my mind while I listened through the entire presentation.

Good to listen

When I was around 11-12 years ago, I repeatedly read this book. Ten years later, I read again and it presented the same story, but came to me in a different way. As Judy was amazed how Emily Bronte made the character named Heathcliff, I was amazed by Judy has a vivid personality despite her circumstances.

In my childhood, she turned on the light in my dark life. In my adulthood, she reminded me of how my childhood was lightened by her. While listening to the audiobook, I was very pleasant

Very Happy Story

I remember reading this about 40 years ago and was thrilled to find it in Audibles.

This story is mainly letters. An orphan girl is given a scholarship to attend college. The only requirement is that she write to Mr. John Smith once a month so he can judge her learning.

It is a marvelous story that is uplifting to hear as this young hard working young lady learns and discovers a world that would never been available to her if things had gone differently.

There is a smidgen of romance, but nothing overt.

It is important to note the story takes place in the early 1900's, Women were not allowed to vote.

My childhood favorite still stands tall

I loved this book when my mother read it to me as an 8 year old child so when I saw it was available on audible I just had to give it a listen. I still loved it! This book proves good writing stands the test of time!
