Sean Turnell, an Australian economist, former political prisoner, and economic policy advisor to Myanmar's ousted democratic leader Aung San Suu Kyi, joins us in the DVB Newsroom.

Turnell discusses the recent secretive transfer of 80-year-old Aung San Suu Kyi from Naypyidaw Prison to an undisclosed house arrest location.

As one of the only people outside the prison to have seen her alive, he shares her final message to the world and explains why the global "Proof of Life" campaign is critical at this moment.

The Philippines called on Myanmar to allow the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ (ASEAN) special envoy ​to meet with detained leader Aung San Suu ‌Kyi, pressing for greater transparency after the regime in Naypyidaw signalled it would let her to serve the remainder of her 18-year sentence under house arrest.
