Acerca de esta escucha
DBT skills can be a fantastic way to approach life's challenges. But where do you start?
This down-to-earth guide walks you through the four DBT modules, mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Each chapter explains how to practice the key skills and dives into the authors' own experiences to explore what works, what doesn't, and which skills work best for particular challenges. Journaling prompts help you work out how to fit the skills into your own day-to-day life, so you can make changes that work for you.
DBT works by helping you to understand difficult emotions and develop skills to regulate them in a healthy way. Whether you struggle with mental health difficulties, or just want to improve the way you handle everyday stress and challenges, this book will filter out the jargon and show you how to use DBT skills in real life.

Great book, excellent overview of DBT skills
I found this book by first listening to the authors' podcasts. I loved the accessibility of the skills in this book, and hearing things from both Michelle and Kate's perspectives. Hearing from both of them really makes the book more enjoyable and relatable. The book also gives an overview of the many acronyms used in DBT, and again gives both Michelle and Kate's thoughts on each letter of GIVE, STOP, DEARMAN, and others. My only criticisms are that the chapter bookmarks don't fully match up with the audio, and more helpful chapter names in the audiobook would be helpful to skip directly to a subject.
Overall, this was a great book that provides a solid foundation for learning DBT skills. There's a ton of material covered in the book that I need to revisit to retain better. I'm already on my second listen!

An Honest and Compassionate Book
I read this one when it first came out, and honestly thought I'd already reviewed it. It was really good. I had no prior experience with DBT, save for the podcast by the authors, but it made a lot of things clear to me that really resonated. It offers real and realistic perspectives and tips. Strongly recommend it, as well as their podcasts: "DBT & Me" and "The Couch & the Chair"
