Hysterical - sarcasm and potty humor

This is a collection of short stories from the Caverns and Creatures universe. They are companion pieces to the main books in the series Critical Failures 1, 2 and 3. The short stories are not meant to be worked into the main storyline of the Critical Failure books. In d6, the main characters get go on some fun adventures or misadventures, I should say. In this way, d6 is a great way to get your feet wet in Caverns and Creatures and see how you like it. The premise is a bunch of casual gamers (think D&D) are transformed into their characters and enter the C&C universe for real. As you can imagine, calamity and hilarity ensues. This is no epic Tolkien-esqe adventure. This is a bunch of bumbling losers doing their best to be adventurous and not die. I don't think you have to be a gamer to like this book, but some of the jokes will be funnier if you 'get it'. Also, iIf you don't like poop jokes, then this is not for you. Walk away. Seriously.

The narrator is outstanding. Anyone that can narrate a half orc, dwarf, and halfling and make them all sound distinct but not cheesy is pretty awesome in my book.

Fantastic, many genuine laugh out loud moments!

Would you listen to D6: Caverns and Creatures again? Why?

I listened to it twice, which is very rare for me for audible books.

What was one of the most memorable moments of D6: Caverns and Creatures?

Coops as the Half Orc mixed dick and fart humor in a way that should not be as funny as it is.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Almost, I had to make extra time to finish it.

Any additional comments?

I didn't go into this expecting too much, and finished it very happy. I listened to the book after downloading it off of Audible. I think this book suits listening to more than reading. The general setting being some fratish guys invite over an DM to run a role playing game for them. They were kind of jerks to the GM and ended up banished into the actual game world they were playing in, and as the players they were role playing.

That would leave a lot of options, but the author managed to keep it funny, fun and engaging. There is violence, blood, sex jokes, the usually from the players as you'd expect. And the players are aware of who they are and what their characters are, to the extend they were banished with copies of their own character sheets. The groups was old players who know each other, a new guy and several accidentals one of which had played before.

The story get slow in parts, which is why I am glad I was listening instead of reading. But there were many times I felt nostalgic and even laughed out loud ad their shenanigans. The end is sort of rushed and not really complete, since new books are out for the serious already.

Mini-Adventures

These tales are great. They take place after the events in the first book, so read that first.

Burned through all six mains and now I’m here, what a god damn ride. 10/10 would read again. I have bad gas a lot. Coop makes me feel good.

Worth the wait.

I have been waiting for this release for a couple of months. The quality of Robert Bevan's humor for nerds was well worth the wait. Great job by Johnathan Sleep again as well. Thanks for the laughs Mr. Bevan.

So many LOL moments

I've spent many hours playing tabletop RPGs like Dungeons and Dragons and appreciate some bathroom humor from time to time so I'm definitely in the target demographic for this book. It's not just demographics though. At the end of the day the story and performance have to deliver and this book and series overall, does just that for me. I hope books 3 and 4 are available soon on Audible.

Oh Too Short

My only complaint is that this installment was too short. The players did not disappoint once again. Is D6 the high brow fantasy with depth of character of LoTR's? No. But if you are looking for a good chuckle, like fart jokes and enjoy having fun in a D&D like universe, this is the book for you.

I look forward to more jolly misadventures.
