‘All about them, happy holiday-makers were strolling and laughing, evidently oblivious of the prevailing perils of their chosen resort.’
A cold case of poisonings heats up at a quaint guest house. A string of suspicious murders follows a crime writer’s tour bus. Two seedy stowaways uncover an infamous smuggling ring.
Everyone needs a break now and then but sometimes getting away from it all can be murder. Martin Edwards presents a jam-packed travel case of 18 mysteries, featuring short stories from crime legends, such as Christianna Brand, Anthony Berkeley and Ethel Lina White, alongside more obscure writers revived in this anthology. Grab your ticket for a journey from the classic 1920s seaside holiday to the 1980s homebody’s dream – perfect for an armchair reverie or a summer getaway.

(1) Make a list of the stories and authors attached to the synopsis of the book!!!!!!! I checked the description of the printed version of this book, too, and it was just as bad. Why wouldn't they think that people looking for good short stories would want to know ahead of time what they are paying for??? Any other audiobooks give you the title and author, but the producers of this give you a general description and the name of the editor. He's a great editor, and I greatly enjoyed hearing the stories, but I have no list that I can reference if I want to hunt down other titles by the same authors.
The reader reads the introduction of each story, which includes the year it was first published, the title of the story, and the name of the author. But that's it. The listener can sit with paper and pen and write it down, or tap it into a note app, but that's the only source of this valuable information available to a person who is paying money to listen to this collection.
(2) Make a pdf file copy of the table of contents available to the purchaser. Many, many audiobooks have pdf files of reference materials (maps, photos, etc) attached to the audiofile.
(3) Give the listener the names of the authors and the titles of the short stories in the chapter/track list!!!!! This is another standard form of this information that is usually available to a listener of audiobooks that was simply not available here.
Great collection of mystery short stories
