Publisher's Summary

Do you have a stronger relationship with the things in your storage closet than the people in your life?

Is your computer desktop so cluttered that someone could run a marathon in the amount of time it takes you to find one file?

Is your calendar so full that all your days blend together?

We never stop to question what's going on with us internally, so we keep mindlessly piling it all on: clothes with tags still on them, electronics we get just to impress people, and the precious slots in our agendas that we fill with things we don't actually want to do.

Be honest. It's not organized chaos. Those are not collectibles. You're not "just really busy." You don't have to go. And no, you're never going to use that - whatever that is that's still in the original packaging that you've been holding on to since Y2K.

To regain sanity, freedom, happiness, productivity and control, you need to trim the fat off the steak in every area of your life, and declutter your mind by decluttering your time, space, and digital life.

This book will show you how to:

  • Redefine minimalism as filling your life with things you actually want
  • Get your physical and digital life in order and set up systems to effortlessly keep it that way
  • Use Parkinson's Law to keep your space decluttered for good without trying
  • Focus on the "negative" to vastly improve your space and overall life
  • Overcome the six reasons people mindlessly waste money on things they don't need
  • Realize the underrated advantages of renting vs. owning
  • Handle guilt around letting go of sentimental items and gifts

This is not a guide on how to rearrange the paperclips in your junk drawer. It's about changing your relationship to things, examining your principles and developing new ones, and learning to live your life for you - not for someone else, and not for your things.

This is not your grandmother's self help. There's a little language, some laughs, and a lot of tough love.

Waste of time. Hope I can return it.

I downloaded this book based on its high reviews. Unfortunately, I personally found it impossible to listen to and will need to return it. The numerous analogies and attempts at weak humor, as opposed to delving into anything real were too irritating to justify continuing.

Reese Owen is hilarious

No one else could make me laugh about minimalism and cleaning up and getting my ish together in every sense of the word like Reese Owen does. I would recommend this audiobook to anyone who is overloaded with stuff, either physically or metaphorically.

I’m getting richer lol

This audiobook has helped curb my spending habits so an unexpected positive side effect is that I’ve seen my bank account and savings go up lol. This book made me rethink why I felt the need to treat myself by spending money on things I would likely never even open or use. Retail therapy used to be my thing, but now I get my peace from ownings less and not more.

Distracting sometimes but still good

Sometimes, I found the jokes to be distracting from the actual material. What I’m sure the author calls “her sense of humor”, to me took me out of the book at times. But if you don’t let that deter you, there is some good stuff inside this audiobook.

She's annoying

I couldn't make it through 15 min
I'm going to try another book I don't know if it was the narrator the boring start or if I'm just not a audiobook person this was my first time.

I’m a different person now

A simple little book on decluttering from an unknown author made me change me perspective on so many things much deeper than just cleaning up. This was one of my favorite listens of this year.
