Will anyone escape the wrath of the Spider King? The Spider King's minions are crossing from Allyra to Earth to hunt for seven unsuspecting 13-year-olds, who are royalty from a foreign world. Stopped once by an ancient curse, the dark forces are determined to finish the job. The Seven's only hope for survival is a remnant of exiled Elves intent on restoring their kingdom. But can they be trusted?

Navigating the tangled web of the Spider King, the teens must make a perilous choice: Go to Allyra and face an uncertain destiny, or remain on Earth and risk the lives of the ones they love.

Good but can be tough to follow

What made the experience of listening to Curse of the Spider King the most enjoyable?

My 10 year old son and I liked the character development and the suspense of what was happening next.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters were very likeable. We became involved in what was happening to them.

Did Greg Whalen do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Not as much change of inflection as we would have liked. There was some inconsistency and then no differentiation sometimes.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, we listen together on our way to and from sports events and errands.

Any additional comments?

This story is sometimes hard to follow because there are so many characters. Eventually the lines start coming together.
We liked that because this is a youth book, there were no cuss words or sexy scenes. There is violence and difficult situations but it's appropriate for older kids/tweens.
This is one I would probably not listen to by myself but it really works for my son and me together. Not too adult for him but not too childish for me.
We will definitely be listening to the second book.

Wonderfully Entertaining!

Wow, this book is an exciting read. It kept me interested from start to finish. The seven heros are extremely likable and easy to cheer for. I can't wait to read the next one!

Amazing book

The book weaves in a combination of fantasy and almost superhero like characters into an intriguing tale with characters traversing two separate worlds and trying to save a world that is their own, but they didn't even know existed until the main characters came of age. The reader is great!

Great story, great performance

I actually got distracted by the quality of the performance. I like the story. It is a thriller. And the tracing of the 7 lords makes for an exciting mix. I like modern day Christian allegories, and this one is very satisfying. I can't wait to get to the second volume.

Excellent Story & Telling

The book was chilling, lively, and quite interesting. By the time I made it to chapter. 5 I couldn't stop reading. The narrator was the highlight of the story by giving the story an amazing feeling of dread, mystery, and emotion. The voices sounded of great emotion, I found that the most memorable moments was when each of the children had there story told and how it all connected to the same thing. The last thing about this book was how the book and the narrator kept you thinking and by thinking I mean imagining on how every one of the scenes in the books would look in pictures made by the author. I enjoyed this book a lot, but its not perfect : ).
