A most fascinating story

As a WWII history enthusiasts I found this very interesting. My wife said that the narrator was dry, and he was but never hearing Dwight D. Eisenhower speak, I felt that this would be what I would have expected if speaking to him personally. this filled in holes in my knowledge of those events especially with the events after the war with his experiences in Russia. Very fascinating book.

The complexity of war

Eisenhower truly was remarkable man. The man who was a great warrior, but didn’t like war, He was a personal friend of General Patton, but yet had to discipline him and how he was able to put all the people and pieces together to have a successful landing during D-Day was amazing.

Great audiobook, wonderful narration

I've been a history buff for a while, but hadn't seen this book, so tried it out. This book became the first documentary series for television (1948). I wasn't around back then.

Turns out Ike is a pretty good writer, and the book has many, many interesting factoids I didn't know about. The minutia of war is well explained in several places. For example, I didn't know that Poland's military was stronger than the US military at the start of the war. I didn't know that "Coalitions Fail" was a truism of war, one that Napoleon exploited. There were many details of the war described that I didn't know.

The narrator does a great job of it.

The moral character of Dwight D Eisenhower

I can only hope that if ever we were faced with another monster as Hilter, we would respond in the same way. Leaders and Men and Women would again become better than we think possible to defeat such facism and superiority over other people. Bravo to all of the allied nations and leaders who stood for the right!!!

Owned the hard cover for 30+ years and

This is the first time I have been past the first 10 or so pages. A very dry tome at the best. The narrator made the difference!
