Publisher's summary

Rafe Caradec—gambler, wanderer, soldier of fortune—was as hard a man as the battlefields and waterfronts of Latin America could fashion, but he was as good as his word. As Charles Rodney lay dying in a dank ship’s fo’c’sle, Rafe swore to make sure that Rodney’s Wyoming ranch went to his daughter, Ann. In Painted Rock, Wyoming, Caradec found land for a man to love, miles of rolling grasslands and towering mountains. He also found that one of the most ruthless men in the territory had set his sights on both Rodney’s ranch and his daughter. But Rafe Caradec had given his word, and once he’d looked deep into Ann Rodney’s eyes, nothing short of death would stop him from keeping the promise he’d made.

Louis Lamour Was the Best Western Story Teller!

This was another great story. The narrator did an excellent job keeping playing Rafe Caradec and all off the different characters while keeping the listener entertained. The story was full of action and an array of salty gunfighters that made the story exciting all the way to the end. ,I would highly recommend this audio.

One of America's best

If you want to take a step back in time to the way life was for those that settled the west this is a good choice. L'Amour's ability to take you to the heart of how the west was lived and fought for is amazing. I can't wait to hear another of his books.

My favorite wester audible book!

This was a well developed story with all the hell and brimstone we expect, but the story was well developed and terms correct with the period.

Tremendous Read

I have been reading Louis L’Amour for more than 50 years. He writes in a way that I can visualize and feel everything that is occurring in the story. He is so visual.

As I listened to this Audible version I was mesmerized. I was feeling as if I was there.

I recommend this to all true L’Amour fans. You owe it to yourself and Louis L’Amour.

Well written

This is a very good western cowboy story with all the shoot em up and fist fights that come with a good western, and don't forget about all the cattle and horses too.

This is one of Louis L'Armour better w esterns in me own opinion, I'm a fan of Mr L'Armour's work and will continue to read and listen to his westerns.
