5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book with Lots of Stitche

I really liked the book. It had so many stitches to learn and great depictions on how to do them. One of my favorite things about the book was that it had a big flap behind the front cover which made it very easy to hold the pages you’ve already used instead of having to fold the book in half. I got the book yesterday and am halfway through a washcloth I am making for my mom. I can’t wait to move on to more difficult stitches and hopefully sell some things I make!

The quintessential reference book for crochet.

First off, this book is not intended as a pattern book. It doesn't teach you how to read patterns nor does it include patterns. What this does instead is show you how to do a ton of stitches whether you know the basics or are just picking up crochet for the first time.

Want to learn how to crochet in the round? Fun edges for your scarves or blankets? How to change colors mid-crochet? How to weave in your ends? How to make your rows wavy or curvy? Add extra texture to your work? How about adding in beads and sequins? Or making buttons and button-holes? How to make cords? What about just wanting to know how to pick the right yarn and hooks? This book is for you!

Nice book!

If, like me, you were drawn to this book because you thought it offers mostly different types of stitches, you might be disappointed.
It does offer some stitches but it’s mostly about how to crochet. I found a lot of different stitches on Pinterest but I was hoping to find an actual book that lists a lot of them because I prefer that to my kindle.
I intend to keep it because it still has some good info. I’m back to looking at my kindle while I try out a new stitch in the meantime.

great reaource for beginnera

I bought this book to learn crochet and I would definitely not recommend it for that purpose. There are much better and more specific guides available for free online. As I was attempting to learn from scratch, I found this guide incomplete and confusing because it does not explain where EXACTLY to put your stiches. It would have been a lot better served with illustrated diagrams because the pictures are not very clear and it is meant for a low-intermeddiate crocheter who knows the basics and how to turn rows etc.

Whether you are just learning to crochet or simply

When I was in my 20s, I was a stay at home mom. I enjoyed reading, crafting, cross stitching, and crocheting doilies. My mom taught me how to make doilies and I could follow fairly intricate patterns. But, I never learned how to make anything else. I'm now in my 50s and teaching myself to knit. I happened to find a pretty scarf pattern that required crocheting. Unfortunately, I can't follow the pattern. I even found my mom's original crochet book from the 1950s & it isn't much help. So, off to Amazon I went to find a quality book on crochet. I looked at several books & read reviews on each. I settled on this book. I think every person who enjoys crochet would find this book helpful. The stitches and techniques are explained extremely well. I learn best visually. So, having a book that illustrates the stitches and how they should look in swatches is perfect for me. Suddenly, my scarf pattern now looks like something I can follow. I am thrilled. I expect to be able to markedly expand my crochet skills with the help of this book. I look forward to making scarves, afghans, hats, sweaters, and whatever else I decide to make with the assistance of this book. You Tube is great if you want to see a video on a stitch. But, I prefer a book at hand for a quick reference. So, if you want to learn to crochet or simply need help with more intricate work, this book will more than meet your needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Beginner's Guide - probl

A Good Beginner's Guide, but I was surprised how difficult it is to Crochet, if you've never done it before. It is easy to understand what you should do, but the brain-finger system is difficult. I find using my fingers to maintain the correct thread tension is extremely difficult, and resort to winding the thread round my little finger more times than it suggests. I prefer double sided knitting on a knitting board, but I still want to master Crochet. It will just take time, but it is far more portable than a long Knitting Board.

Looks easy to follow! Teaching myself to crochet. This will definitely help
shame because as a beginner that would really help me to know if I am following the instructions correctly. But generally, great book to start with and then, move on to crochet project with better instructions!

5.0 out of 5 stars very useful guide for complete

i found this book very useful to learn my very first few crochet stitches as I am a complete beginner, there are very clear pictures illustrating how to do every single step of the stitch and it's very easy to follow, so it is great. My only but is that the few projects that are included at the end of the book for you to start crocheting, lack information on the instructions, increases and decrees are instructed but no total count for how many of them you should finally have is included, shame because as a beginner that would really help me to know if I am following the instructions correctly. But generally, great book to start with and then, move on to crochet project with better instructions!

Perfect beginner book

Perfect beginner book. I already know how to crochet, but love the electronic overview of stitches. I'm using this to help teach my friend to crochet. I really wish I could get the hard copy. But love it!

Great book for beginners or as a refresher course!

I have the Kindle version. Even though I have been crocheting off and on for years, this book is a nice little refresher course for those who need one and great for beginners! Very easy to follow instructions!

Fantastic how-to for beginners!

I've downloaded a LOT of e-books on teaching crochet for beginners and this is by far the best I've seen yet. Not only does it explain everything in detail with a straight forward simple style, it also has links to a TON of videos to help you along. And the patterns for the projects are easy to follow! Such cute projects to get you started. Not just a dish cloth and a couple of scarves but blankets, gloves, toys and more! I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn the craft or, if you already know the basics, learns some new stuff too!

This one is My favorite book

This book did a great job at showing where to put the hook into. Plus once you learn how to do one stitch, you can teach yourself the others with the help of this book. I think it helps that I knew how to knit. I think it is great

I wanted to start up again after many years of not doing it at all and was clueless where to begin. I was able to create this out of buffalo wool yarn, and it was surprisingly easy.

This is my favorite book on crocheting

I have prior crochet experience, but this book gave me more understanding of terminology and techniques. I loved the pattern examples at the end.
