Something ancient lurks beneath the surface....

An important assignment pulls James Luna back to his hometown of Alpine Ridge. A place he vowed never to return to after that ill-fated summer when he lost his younger brother to tragedy. Upon arriving, he finds himself thrown into a situation beyond his wildest dreams.

Danger and death surround picturesque Lake Trinity in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. James must balance the weight of a shattered family, a new romance, and keeping those he loves alive. The stakes have never been higher.

Will he be able to solve the mystery and put an end to the threat, or will the nightmare continue?

That was amazing

This book kept me on my toes the entire time. You never knew who was next and you never knew what was coming.

I felt bad for him at the beginning when losing his brother and having it tear his family apart to the point where it pushes him away from his home town. As luck would have it, work brought him home at the same time as tragedy starts again. He wants to confront his dad but finds him taken ill with Alzheimer's disease and his mother just getting by. With tragedy hitting the town, the police chief asks for his help and memories of his brothers death make him wonder if it's happening all over again. With the death toll rising, help is called in, but does it arrive in time for the town? Can James figure this out and stop it or will he meet the same fate as his brother? you will have to listen to find out. I absolutely enjoyed this book from beginning to end.

Spine Tingling

Great supernatural murder mystery narrated well by Dan Belmont. This book centered around native American rituals and beliefs of spiritual beings existing on earth. James Luna returns to his hometown after many decades and uncovers the reason for his brother's death with the assistance of police chief Alison, his school crush and neighbour.

Sharks aren't the only predators in the water

Love scary stories with unknown creatures who apparently hate humans. Dan Belmont voice is great.

A great mixing of legend and horror

The author and narrator Do a great job of spinning native myth and horror and creating a chilling tale that will keep you well entertained. Development drives locals to call forth something from the depths of history and the lake that will leave a path of blood and death. Really well written and well told. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This one will make you think twice before going into water!

Alpine Ridge…an idyllic small town on the edge of a lake. A few decades ago, James witnessed something pull his younger brother under the water…except his death was ruled accidental drowning. Now James is back as a marine biologist working on testing the lake and fish population. Coincidentally, something has begun mauling ppl around the lake, reminiscent of his brother’s death. James teams up w the police chief…his childhood neighbor…as they battle a creature that defies belief. One thing’s for sure, you’ll never look at water the same again! Excellent story, with equally excellent narration, that keeps the blood pumping.

Awful Narrator!

Mr. Belmont is a horrible narrator. He is wooden and sounds as if he is reading directly from a script. No inflections of emotion at all. He is so bad, I couldn't even finish listening to the book. Does anyone listen to these narrators before hiring them? The story, itself, was okay. Could have been better with a different narrator.
