Publisher's summary

Derrick is one of the creatus, created beings who have lived on the Earth for more than 4,000 years. Many questions surround the origin of these sentient beings who are stronger than humans, eat differently, and live longer. But they were created just as we were, maybe even before us. It is from them we obtain our fairy tales - and our nightmares. They are the reason we believe in superheroes - and monsters. Because...they exist.

In the past, they kept the human race safe from an anonymous distance. But now, Derrick must come out of the darkness to save a woman he has no business loving, even if doing so may threaten his entire race.

The Creatus Series is not your normal paranormal story...it's a realistic romantic mystery based on the myths you've heard your entire life. Prepare to believe....

Bonus material: Creatus includes the prequel, Creatus: They Exist, and a sneak peek at Creatus Rogue.

Much Better Than Expected!

I was highly impressed with Creatus, and thought the plot was original which was refreshing. I actually completed it in less that 24 hours, the story moves at a good pace and kept me engaged.

The Creatus are not human, and try to keep their existence unknown from humans; however, Derrick, the overseer of the Creatus, vows to secretly watch over and protect eight year old Kris after her mother is killed in front of her. As the years pass, he secretly watches and protects Kris but as she grows from the young girl into a women, he falls in love with her.

The night Kris's mother was killed, she was saved from the same fate by a stranger wearing all black, and calls him her Dark Angel. As she grows up, she moves from one foster home to another and her life is not always easy; however, she never forgets her Dark Angel and senses he is real. Then one night she decides to take drastic measures to meet her Dark Angel and plunges to her death but Derrick saves her again.

Now that Kris is all grown up and knows her Dark Angel is real, their attraction for each other grows. She decides to join Derrick and his world but there are some Creatus's who do not agree Derrick should not be the overseer, or with a human. These Creatus put plans into motion to kill Kris and Derrick.

Anytime I start a new book with a narrator I've never heard before, I always have to get adjusted to the new voice; however, after the first hour, I was used to Marcio's voice and thought he did a great job narrating the story.

Creatus was a really good story and I was torn between a four or five star but ultimately settled for a four star. If the plot was a little more intense and the romance a little steamer, I would have given it a five star. However, this is definitely a credit worthy story and I will be on the lookout for the next book in the series.

good story

the story was good, and the narrator has a nice voice. the only draw back was the narrator reading it. i could hear him making a weird noise. it was kind of like he had gum in his mouth. distracting.

Mispronounced words

I loved the storyline and plan on buying and finishing the series. The narrator is talented but someone, somewhere during production, should have corrected his pronunciations. I’m not sure the narrator knows that the word library has 2 R’s in it. That’s just the beginning of quite a few mispronounced words. It was quite distracting.

They Do Exist!

Where does Creatus rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

In the top 10 for sure. The narration and writing were excellent. Being paranormal, my favorite genre, was the reason for reading it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Creatus?

I liked the fight when Vic was beating up on Michael thinking he was the rogue who just beat up on Reece and the following scenes of Michael expressing his love and the predicament of dealing with Reece.

Have you listened to any of Marcio Catalano’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I might have but don't remember. Loved his voice, so packed with emotion when needed, not mono toned or boring ever.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and I did. Very fast paced, never a dull moment, would recommend this book to any paranormal fan.

Great books

Great read. Perfect narrator. Would recommend highly. Story while being a romance is not all about the detail of the physical acts but about storyline and plot.
I was gifted with this book for an honest review.
