This is a great informative book. This is a great book for the novice and expert. It has a lot of information about training and socializing puppies from the moment you get them. It also puts a lot of emphasis on your relationship with the dog and why it’s so important to have a great bond with your dog.

I just had a puppy and I was thinking about training it as early as I could but I didn't know what to do. Then my friend, recommended to this audio to me. It has lots of information on what I needed to do and also on how I could prepare myself and puppy for the start of our training journey

Robotic and disjointed

This is like listening to a robotic program trying to read without punctuation. It also references articles that are specific to Golden Retrievers, which I found odd and useless. There is *some* useful information, but it can probably be found with a simple internet search. Don't waste a credit on it.

Great information & instructions on crate training

This has great information on crate training and easy step by step instructions. It was very easy after listening to this to crate train and house train my new pup

New puppy

We just got a new puppy. This audible book was very helpful. We have night time crate training down, but still working on daytime. The author kept saying “refer to chart below,” but hard to read if I’m only listening.

Doesn't really help with a very young puppy

Not as much help here as I would've liked. The author spent a lot of time trying to talk me into using a crate, but I'm already sold on the idea. My older dog loves his crate and I just want to train the new little girl to use hers as well.

My main concern/question - what to do about a new baby who is used to sleeping in a pile of littermates and can't sleep on her own - was never addressed. And there were several repetitions, including some that were repeated almost verbatim. The author also strongly suggests (in several places) to put the dog's food & water in the crate. But the crates for both of my dogs have soft fluffy bedding inside. And honestly, I think the soft bedding is a bigger draw for spending time inside the crate than feeding them there would be.

So.... I think I will wait until she is a little older and able to sleep by herself. And then I will use the author's idea of putting a Kong in the crate with her and see if that will work.
