Wow! Great allegory with a captivating story.

My wife talked me into listening to this book. She is a huge Terri Blackstock fan and I'll admit I listened to it for her but I was very impressed. Basically, this is an allegorical story of twin girls who are separated from their home and forced to live in squalor until they choose to return to their adoptive parent that loves them very much and has virtually unlimited resources to care for them. It was a beautiful way to illustrate how we live in the squalor of this world and choose to believe its lies even though Christ offers us a far better alternative. I thought the plot was believable with few exceptions though I did think it may have stretched a bit at the climax. I also found the main characters to be believable and I was able to identify with them. This is by far my favorite Terri Blackstock book.

Prodigal Parable Times Two

Clearly written as a biblical comparison to the prodigal son, this modern day parable, is a beautiful, yet at times an extreme example of the poor choices that people make . . . AND a steadfast example of the love of a parent for a child, mirroring God's love for us . . . one must listen with these things in mind . . . with the full knowledge that God NEVER fails . . . and that if we hold on to His promises, we will reap his blessings in due time . . . Amanda, and then Kara and Lizzie suffered innumerable losses . . . years of suffering, unfairness and neglect by the ones who should have loved them most . . . and blinded by that suffering, the twins gave in to despair, and believed the lies of the evil one . . . for a time . . . but, listener, hang on until the end . . . because our Lord always has the last word . . .

Covenant Child

I listened to this book on a road trip and I was so entranced by the story and the reader that I missed two turn=offs on the highway. I was on the edge of my seat uring most of my trip and I found myself becoming emotionally involved with all of the characters, including wishing that the "Nasty characters" would get what they deserved. I highly recommend this book.

CAPTIVATING!!!

My Mom and I are big Terri Blackstock fans. I bought this book a year ago, but for some reason I hadn't listened to it. So Mom and I had a road trip over the last few days and listened. This was definitely our favorite Blackstock book we've read! I loved the narrator, different than others she's used. We got home and still had about an hour to listen. So we finished it at home. It was simply captivating and kept you engaged from the start. We hadn't even read the summary of what the book was about and was hooked in the first chapter!

Covenant Child

Another great 1 by Terri Blackstock, Amanda demonstrates the love of Jesus by continuing to be there for these beautiful twin girls who are not her biological children. Cara shows someone who makes a lot of bad choices and almost misses those free gifts that she had in store for her. It shows how Jesus continues to love us how he adopted us, how he has gifts for us if we would only take them.

Fantastic Book

Great book. Such wonderful unconditional love given by a step mother. Same type of love Jesus has for us.
