Publisher's Summary

Do you want to have the courage to trust yourself, speak up for yourself, say “no”, and enforce boundaries in your relationships?

Do you find yourself in the position of being a caretaker or people pleaser, sacrificing your own needs and wants in favor of someone else’s happiness, and taking on other people’s responsibilities and consequences?

If you have said "Yes" to either of these questions, you may be exhibiting signs of codependency. We’ve all been there at some point. Even if your relationship starts off great, you can find yourself in a position where you get wrapped up in your partner’s life and push aside your own goals, dreams, and habits to the point where you're basing your happiness on someone else’s and constantly seeking validation from outside yourself.

Courage to Cure Codependency will give you a thorough understanding of codependency and the psychology behind it, the capacity to recognize signs of it in yourself and others, and the ways to fix it.

In this audiobook, you will learn:

  • Seven steps to heal from a codependent relationship
  • How to reclaim your self-esteem and self-confidence
  • The key things you must do in order to avoid getting back into another codependent relationship
  • How to free yourself from guilt of refusing to continue to be an enabling caretaker
  • How to salvage a codependent relationship and turn it around
  • Sneaky ways codependency shows up in relationships and the harmful codependent behaviors you may not realize you’re exhibiting
  • And much more

You deserve to have healthy relationships. It’s never too late to make a change, even if you have “always been this way”. Your journey to healing starts right now.

Helped me a lot

I always assumed that codependency had something to do with alcoholics, but in this book, although I hate to admit it, I realized I had some codependent behaviors in all of my relationships, including with my boyfriend, my friends sometimes, and definitely with one of my closest family members.

This opened my eyes

I had no idea I was codependent until I listened to this audiobook. This opened my eyes to a lot of signs of codependency that I thought were innocent and didn’t even think of.

The most important lesson I learned

This is a life-changing book to listen. The book is worth getting in hard copy too. This is something I'd listen again in the future to see how I improved my relationships with family and friends. The most important lesson I learned is to evaluate myself and put boundaries.

Helpful!!

I have a friend who had the worst and most abusive relationship I could ever think of, I think she will benefit a lot from this book. It is worth sharing to people we know who are suffering from codependency.

I’ve learned so much about myself

I am a guilty people pleaser and a classic yes man. This book made me realize that it probably goes back all the way to my childhood. I’ve learned so much about myself (and how to improve) and I’m so grateful to have found this audiobook.

we’re just helping people

Sometimes, it can seem like we’re just helping people in need, and it seems selfish not to help, but this audiobook taught me that boundaries are a good thing, and overhelping people (no matter how much you love them) can be really bad for both them and you.

I can actually take steps to fix broken parts

They say the first step is admitting that you have a problem. Well, with the in depth information in this book, I can now confidently do that. And with that, I can actually take steps to fix broken parts of me.

feel really judgmental

Codependency books can go either way. They can be really helpful, or feel really judgmental. I like how the author here doesn’t come off as judging the listener.

It's a good introduction

I think that this would be a good book for someone toying with the idea over whether they are codependent or not. It's a good introduction, but, not for someone who already has a basic grasp of what it is.

Glad I found this audiobook

Codependency has definitely put a strain on my relationship with my aunt. Glad I found this audiobook. I’ve been listening to it with her, and we both agree we need to make some changes in our relationship.
