Publisher's Summary

Have you ever heard the phrase "it's not what you say, it's how you say it"?

Relationships can be hard. We all communicate differently, and assign different meaning to words, making it difficult for us to get through to our partners if we don't understand and acknowledge their unique background and way of processing information. Sometimes, we find ourselves in a fight with our partner over something we said, but they took it in a way that we didn't even mean. But relationship problems don't go away by just scheduling a date night or talking more.

Improving your emotional intelligence (EI) will give you the ability to identify the causes of your relationship problems - whether they're yours, your partners, or a combination - and to address the causes of those problems, instead of just the symptoms. With this audiobook, you will be equipped to address any and all issues that may arise in your relationship, and improve it in ways that will make it more enjoyable, longer lasting, and easier to manage.

You will learn how to:

  • Earn and receive trust
  • Communicate better with your partner, even if they are the type that "shuts down" or is otherwise difficult to communicate with
  • Have the courage to have difficult conversations with ease
  • Control your emotions in heated arguments
  • Develop and express empathy for your partner
  • See how other people see and interpret your behavior
  • Solve challenging relationship problems through practice exercises
  • Carry these skills into every type of relationship in your life

Whether married, dating, or single, and even if you've struggled with communication before, this book will give you practical information you can use and apply daily to strengthen your current and future relationships.

Waste of time

I feel like this book is a waste of time. The author doesn't really teach you how to increase your emotional intelligence, how to communicate better, etc. It's just telling us what we should already know. What I want to know is HOW do I better myself when it comes to emotional intelligence. I don't want to hear about all of the ways emotional intelligence will help my relationship. It's a given.

Great Tips for use in any relationship

I thought this book was well written. It included a lot of different ideas to help improve your Emotional Intelligence (EI) and your relationships. The book even included areas that you would stop and ponder the suggested problem and how you would/should react. I thought it was very engaging.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Very realistic!

I had an engaging exploration on the basic principles of emotional intelligence. My husband will be arriving next weekend and I don’t want to stir any trouble knowing the fact that clear communication is not my strong suit. This usually happens whenever we’re together, so I’m I can’t thank this piece enough.

On my way to a better me.

Very helpful if you want to become a better person. Sometimes we don’t realize what we’re saying or how we’re saying it, or how our behavior makes other people feel. This draws attention to that. If you take the advice of this book, you’ll be well on your way to being a better you.
